Got a call from Julie this afternoon. Cars arriving at the Orlando Deallership tomorrow**INCLUDING MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have to prep and set up showroom. Possibly ready for delivery tomorrow afternoon or else Sat morning. She will call me tomorrow.

Not excited about being raped on the dealer prep charge (it's far better to be seduced than raped) but excited that I might be getting my smartie!

Did you mention this to Julie? I got my call today, too. Julie tried to give me a whole song and dance routine about how they aren't making any money on the vehicles when I mentioned that I wasn't happy about "getting screwed" with their $799 doc fee. I asked her why anyone in CA would want to set up shop, then, since they're only able to charge $55 by law.

She was curious as to how I knew how much they are charging in various parts of the country. She apparently doesn't know about this thing called the 'internet!'

When I told her that Orlando was charging the highest doc fee in the USA, she quickly told me about how people have been paying $25K-$27K to get smarts from Canada and that, in comparison, I'm still getting a good price. And, hey, the waiting list is a mile long, so quit your complaining, mister!

That's exeactly why I didn't bring it up. It's going nowhere unless that State gets involved and that is not a short term deal.

Had I known at the start of this whole process what the charges were going to look like I would have used a relatives address in another state or a differnt zip code in Florida but that's a live and learn deal.

Not willing to wait 6 months to a year to reorder so I'll pay it, ***** about it and try to leverage it into some after purchase support and service.

I think the whole Doc fee is a load of BS, and I plan on passing that along to my dealer when I pick it up. They're also a Maserati dealer. If I could afford a Maserati, I wouldn't be complaining about a 599.00 Doc fee. The Smart ain't no Maserati. If I were you, I'd let Julie understand your displeasure!!!!!!!!

I saw your car this morning going down 95. I called Judson to let him know there were on the road. I was so excited!!! This was at the Daytona exit so didn't see if they took the I-4 exit but bet they did. My husband will freak if I tell him about the doc fees. He buys from Mullinex because they don't charge those fees...

Be careful in Orlando regarding service. In the past their service dept has been excellent, but there's been a turnover since my last service. I've got a week and a half wait for a blown rear tire. Also, the 30k service, which costs $225 in Tampa, they priced at $528 in Orlando. Good luck trying to reach this "dealership" on the phone.
