Tampa Area Meet August 16th

With the growing number of smarts in the Tampa Area, I figured it was time to try to setup a local meet. So here we go. Open to anyone!!! I was thinking an informal meet and greet with dinner at a central location.

My suggestion...

The Island Cafe
Hwy 41 just south of Apollo Beach

It's central for those comming from Tampa, Sarasota and Pinellas... about 45 minutes from anywhere in the bay area. The resturant has a nice menu at a nice price and ample parking.

I was thinking August 16th at 6pm.


Thoughts or suggestions?

Count me in UNLESS I fly back to Detroit that weekend....... Since I'm in St. Pete, I'll take the Skyway over and do the "southern" route.

I am thinking about coming down there to your get together instead of the one we are having here. I had a great time hanging out with all of you. I am thinking we can talk about the lights then as well. Is there any place we can go to hang out after dinner ?

david this is tampa and party central there is everywhere to hang out and yes we will talk about getting the lights done

Since I didn't see any additional suggestions other than Cracker Barrel (No John... ) I'm going to lock in the location at the Island Bar and Grille in Apollo Beach for 6pm. Again, it's central to the entire area and has a big parking lot and good food and prices(Also, Jenn has to work in Sarasota till 5pm and this gives her a chance to meet us for dinner.)

Directions are as follows:

From Tampa, Orlando and Pasco County: Take interstate 75 south from Tampa to exit 246. Take a left at the bottom of the exit ramp and follow to US 41. Turn south/left on US 41 and the resturant is 2.5 miles on your left(you will have to make a U turn on 41 and come back).

From south Pinellas County: Take 275 south across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge all the way to the interstate 75 junction. Take interstate 75 north to exit 246 and follow the above directions to the resturant.

Sarasota and Manatee County: Take interstate 75 north to exit 246 and follow the above directions to the resturant.




I'll be there at 5pm and we'll plan on eating at 6pm. Afterwords it looks like we may be "hitting the town". If there are any questions please reply or PM me. As of now it looks like we have about 6 smarts confirmed. Looking forward to seeing everyone!!


Edit: I spoke to the manager this evening to let him know we'd be coming. While reservations are not required, they would like a head count so they can have a table setup for us so if your planning on attending please reply to this thread.
