Well it's about damn time........

I have to wait until Sunday to post this in the Official Delivery Thread but...

I finally got the call to pick up my Blue/Silver Passion from smart Center Weston.

They told me I could pick it up Saturday 2/23, but apparently they're going to be WAY too busy since Roger Penske is supposed to be visiting there at the dealership - and I wanted to have all of my questions answered before I leave and not feel rushed.

So Sunday 11:30 is my appointment and they tell me to budget 2 hours with them.

Interestingly, when discussing warranty options, I was expecting to be offered the same options as discussed throughout this board. But among the offerings were (running alongside the 2yr/24K) 3 yrs/50K for $1063 and 5yr/75K for $1080. I could be wrong on this since I was on a crappy cell phone, but I think I wrote those numbers correctly.

I haven't wrapped my head around these warranty options yet, but I'd be interested in seeing if anybody else was offered/purchased something similar.

So maybe......just maybe the endless anxiousness will soon have a happy ending....we'll find out.

Here's my scoreboard:
03/21/07 = Reservation (#1175)
10/08/07 = Configure
01/11/08 = 30 day e-mail (yeah, right....)
01/12/08 = Call from smart Center Weston
02/22/08 = Call to pick up (!!!!)
02/24/08 = the waiting ends

Tony

I skipped the extended warranty, the paint protection, and the tire and wheel insurance. I asked lots of questions before signing. The car will be worth the wait. Congratulations!

I skipped the extended warranty as well. I almost never buy extended warranties because they are one of the most expensive forms of insurance there is.

HOWEVER, I did get talked into the tire and wheel insurance. After I left the dealership I kicked myself. But then I hit a massive pothole on the way home, and the shock went right through to my bones. The smart doesn't do potholes well. In fact I've hit a number of them (including some on the highway) since I've owned the car during the past three weeks. And so I'm now convinced that it's worth it. It is only a matter of time before one of them damages a rim.

Thats one of the best things about living in FL. We don't have much in the way of potholes, due to no freezes. Its a beautiful thing!!

Tire and wheel insurance, I purchased also but after I read the fine print, I got my money back. Why...my insurance has better coverage on everything except the wheel replacement. Took my dealer over an hr to get a hold of the independent ins company, nothing but a continuous computer program saying press 1 for ....finally got a human and said it wasn't his job???? FI guy then check with the "Office" and say that the paper work had not been sent. Got all my money back. I live 100 miles from a dealership and if something were to go wrong with all that "fine print" in the contract; could result in non payment. $100 max for a tow "I don't think you can get a tow except in a city with a dealer for that. I'll just set the money aside a buy the wheel/tire if needed.
