We run "flags" such as these on a Cooper. If heat gain is an issue our plan is to adhere the design to the outside surface and that should be very effective. Yes, it does prevent you from seeing the stars, but it does offer infinite personalization possibilities. The "S on a checkerboard" has been problem free for two years thus far. That panel is glass. I guess that there could be adhesion issues to a poly panel, but the 3M material seems quite good.

no real problems with the pano-roof here in the Mojave Desert,yet...not quite as hot a some parts of AZ, but still scorching...

the AC in the smartmobile seems to be doing well...

I had an extra sun shade lying around, so I cut it to size and pushed it in between the roller shade and the roof. It has made a huge difference in my comfort level in the car. It's a little bulky, but I think it does the trick.
