Still waiting... 378 days and counting.

The last few days of waiting for my Smart. Last week, I got the good news that it was at the Vehicle Processing Center in Long Beach. I got an approximate time frame of 7-10 days for it to arrive here in Arizona. I was told today that it's not there as of today. They will call as soon as the truck pulls in and they verify my car is on it.

I'm pretty sure it will be day 10 or 11 the way my luck is running.

Certainly, those that have been waiting as long or longer have my empathy. It's so agonizing when you know you're so close to delivery.

Thats actually pretty quick compared to those of us who "reserved" any time after August last year. My DDE date could be about a year from now. Add the 200 days I've waited since my "reservation" and my wait could be as long as 565 days because I live in an area with a lot or reservations.

I bet if you make a "reservation" today from a zip code with lots of orders you could be waiting a full three years for your "reserved" car.

Of course if it were REALLY a reservation, the first orphan that matched your config would be on a truck to your dealer. I still think they could save face if they would start doing that.

Then again, what do I care. I still haven't even been ivited to configure while several people in my zip code have.

Or at least give the dealers SOME incintive to sell to reservation holders. sheesh!

Sorry SnakeFarm. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that when you reserve doesn't dictate when you will receive. I've seen lots of people who reserved after me, in the same locale get their cars months before me. AND I know there are some people on this forum that reserved before me (In March!) that are still waiting. That's just crazy.

I know that they do production in batches by car type configuration and not necessarily by reservation number. That part kind of sucks. I really think they should just do away with the reservation system and sell them when they get them.

Are you orphan hunting? I expect there to be quite a few orphans in the days to come.

387 days here, and still waiting!

I've been told (as of last Friday) that my car was due to be here "in the next few weeks", but when I questioned whether that was because it was at port, the salesperson told me that no, he thinks it's still on the boat. I'm at the point where I figure I'll get excited when I'm called to come pick it up, otherwise just face further disappointment. I'm already extremely disappointed in the unfairness of it all, but I think we've (those of us who've been forced to wait more than a year) become the sad stories that others read and think, "thank goodness that didn't happen to me"!

Good luck in getting your car in the next few days, I've heard rumors that it's worth it!

Sparky, I have the feeling that you would get your smartie this week. I symphatize with you with regards to the agony of the wait and the lack of specific information compounds the wait. I sure hope that once you finally get your car this weeK that this would take away the bitter taste in your mouth (with regards to the wait). I too just recently celebrated my one year anniversary of reservation last Monday and still waiting for my smartie to get here. Hang in there and hopefully in the couple of days you would be posting the arrival of your smart car.

Diego

I'm jealous. You ordered my exact car only 7 days earlier than I did. If there was a way to highjack the carrier....... I've heard nothing.

Good luck and be sure to post some pictures so I can drool.

383 days and waiting....

I wonder if we should start a sticky for the person who has waited the longest for their smartie. Feels like I'm the front runner right now. Sorry, just feeling a bit grumpy tonight . Smartie come to me...

Good luck to all in your patient waiting.

It is frustrating but stay patient! I had to wait longer than I thought because of an administrative Department of Motor Vehicle problem here in Colorado, then I had to solve my financing, but I picked up the Smart on Sunday and every second I waited was worth it: I love this car! Get zen about it and they will call you. Good luck!

Hope I don't get zen'd out waiting! No word today, so I'm officially 379 days and counting and day 8 of the 7-10 day time frame. Geesh, maybe we should start a Smart delivery pool on when Smarts arrive!
