curtis ... that's so wrong. I've actually been reading your posts, hoping to finally hear you say you got it. I'm pulling for you. Hang in there. I'd ask for some swag or a discount for making you wait longer than anyone.
the current way in which orphans are being handled at the majority of dealerships only exacerbates and potentially lengthens the wait for legitimation reservation holders. abandoned configurations could be going to the next legitimate reservation on the list rather than some walk-in.
i don't blame the winners who get the orphans, but i can't say i'm thrilled with the dealership decisions to circumvent the reservation process for a quick buck. theoretically, there is someone on the reservation list already for any possible configuration of vehicle, therefore, no orphan list should be necessary... the next person in line on the rez list who requested that vehicle should get first pass.
but this isn't an ethics class or a morality play i guess. :lol:
i'll wait for mine because that's my style. i don't even want to know if 10 people came in and got 10 smarts in my exact configuration as orphans in the last few months. it would probably put me over the edge. ya know? lol.
I've been told (as of last Friday) that my car was due to be here "in the next few weeks", but when I questioned whether that was because it was at port, the salesperson told me that no, he thinks it's still on the boat. I'm at the point where I figure I'll get excited when I'm called to come pick it up, otherwise just face further disappointment. I'm already extremely disappointed in the unfairness of it all, but I think we've (those of us who've been forced to wait more than a year) become the sad stories that others read and think, "thank goodness that didn't happen to me"!
Good luck in getting your car in the next few days, I've heard rumors that it's worth it!

Thanks! Whew, that was quite a wait, officially 388 days - may no one else have to wait as long! And, it's exactly as I said, once the wait is over, it's like giving birth and forgetting all the pain involved. Of course, YMMV...
Ok that's not entirely accurate as I have all day today to wait...
Just got THE call! My Smart is being unloaded from the truck and will be detailed and prepped for a Saturday afternoon delivery. It IS a really good feeling to finally get to this point!
