Tucson Smarties - Cargo Space for Wheelchair ????

I live in Bisbee, AZ and have reserved a Smart Cabriolet. I'm also on the orphan list in San Diego and Chandler. Here's my dilemma - I use a wheelchair most of the time, and when I'm on the road I use a very small electric chair that breaks down into pieces I can handle. I've had my chair in the trunk of lots of small rental cars and it doesn't take up much space at all. But even though I know the dimensions of the cargo space in the Cab, it's really hard to be able to tell whether it will work. And if I can't put the chair in the Smart there's no point in my buying the car. If I can't work something out I'll either drive to Chandler or fly to San Diego (I have a grandchild there) and try the chair at the dealer. But I go to the doctor in Tucson fairly frequently, and would really love to find someone there with a Cabriolet who would allow me to check the cargo space to see if the chair would fit. So if there is anyone who'd be willing to let me try it please pm me and we can try to set something up.

Or if anyone wants to come down to Bisbee I'll buy lunch! It's gorgeous here right now and would be a great ride in your new convertible!

Quite a bit of Cargo space but...

If your wheelchair folds, it likely will not have width problems ... the reason I wnet to a coupe instead of a cabriolet is because you use some use of the vertical space due to the "accordian" type folding of the cabriolet hatch. I carry a massage chair or a massage table. I can pack one or the other, and I put the front passenger seat in the folded flat position. You could probably do that and get your chair in at a diagonal, despite the cabriolet fold...but, a bettr choice might be to buy the bike rack that attaches to the tow hitch. Anyway, just my own experience and observations to share. Good luck!

My wife's Pride GoGo scooter fits in the back of a coupe in one piece, seat off. Seat fits in the space also, detached.

Yeah! My little wheelchair is a Pride GoGo, and it takes up less space than the GoGo scooter. So it seems like it would work. Thanks so much! - sheureka
