At 1383, then maybe I should be looking at the second half of 2009!!! I don't expect to hear anything soon but probably should stop by there again to express my interest in any "orphans" left behind. I decided to stop reading the forum for awhile as I was getting tired of hearing how much everyone loves their car when I know I'll be waiting for some time. Envy is such a strong emotion!

I hope to eventually meet you if there's ever an Az Smart Car rally! Meanwhile, we'll just make due with exchanging stories on how long we've been waiting, how much longer it will still take, and then finally, that our cars have arrived!

See you all later!

Welcome Smartpeggy. I'm 1232 and confirmed Dec 28. My email also said second half of 08. Hopefully Tracy is right about 45-60 days...thats good news. Will be going to Chandler in several weeks for a test drive.

I was wondering what happen to you mstratton. If you get that Orphan before I get my smart, you will need to give me a ride.

In the mean time I am trying to "wait patiently", looking all over for other smarts (haven't seen any 2008's even though I know a couple have been delivered to people in our area) and reading the forum.

Cruising - sorry but i have to say this, but if i was Tracy i might not respond to you either. Your posts are rude and your attitude stinks - i don't know what you write in your emails but ease up and chill out buddy!

for the record, i was at the chandler store today - they are so nice, very busy but more than willing to spend as much time and give as much information as you'd like. They do have demo's and they are doing demo rides (silver / Silver coupe... drove with Alex, awesome!)....they are working their way into them because the demand and interest has been huge and they are trying to get as many cars delivered as quick as possible - Alex told me they delivered over 25 cars in the 10 days they were open in January!!! If i was one of those lucky few i would appreciate that they were appreciative of my schedule and getting my new smart to me as quick as possible.

I didn't mention this site to them but if they are looking at and reading the comments that you're posting about them they may not be as excited to see you walk thru the door as they were when i walked in today.

1st, My private e-mail and my screen name are totally different so they do not know who I am.

2nd, my only grip with them is thier excessive dealer fee, they should feel bad about it.

I am not sure why you feel my posts are rude, but you are entitled to your opinion I guess, sorry if I offend you.

Tracy does know about this web site and has read some of the threads. I don't know if she has had time lately with getting organized, cars coming in, etc.

Don't count on it.

Why should they feel bad? Not until our Legislators change the laws, then something will be done. Haven't you been reading the other threads. The areas that have low dealer fees have them because the State Legislators have done something about it.

I just read in another thread that you are planning on reserving another smart in a couple of weeks. Well, if you work on our State Legislators, maybe, just maybe something can be done about those fees by the time your second smart comes in.

I have read the other threads, doesn't mean I have to like it.

I will however, after much research end up getting my car in AZ as it will still be cheaper once I figured in transportation and CA Taxes. I do not like it but I got over it.

Also waiting patiently

I was told my car was in port on 1/16/08 and I should have it in two weeks. Being impatient, I asked my salesman, Sean, again on the 26th. He e-mailed me that it's still sitting in port awaiting inspection. It's been more than two weeks now, can anyone give me a clue as to what goes on "in port?"

400 bucks in a doc fee is all they are marking up the car, I was at the Toyota dealer last years looking at a vehicle with an MSRP $21,000 with an additional dealer margin (ADM) of 6K! When I asked about the ADM the salesman told me the vehicle was hard to get and if I wanted it I would pay the ADM. He can sell every one of the cars he can so he was making money when he could. I walked but the car was gone the next week.

I was happy as hell to buy my Passion for MSRP knowing there are 30,000 people inline to buy one. A normal dealer would be sticking us for at least a few grand until the list started to run down.
My 2 cents worth.
