I was there on Tuesday (2/12) and did my test ride. I also was somewhat of a clutz with the shifting even though I've used mauel shifting for years on both cars and motorcycles. Sean was very informative about all the aspects of the Smart and I'd have to say that its making the waiting game a bit more difficult now that I know how it handles. It was interesting that when you're inside, you don't think about how small it really is. Driving back on to the lot and fitting it in a tight parking space was fun though!! I even had to buy a Smart hat while I was there - expect it to be worn out by the time my car arrives.
Hi - We're in Scottsdale. We're an 1180 and got our "30 day's out" email on 2/1. Hopefully that means we'll get our car soon!
We found Alex and Tracy to be very helpful and kind - on the phone, through email, and when we went in for our test drive. I think it's been overwhelming for them to deal with all of us and our excitement waiting for our cars to arrive, but they're doing it well.

Care to give some detail re your issues with the shifting? I drove one during the road show visit, but kept it in the automatic mode so I could focus on other things. I have similar manual shift experience and the various posts about shifting have me wondering about the technique. Do you let off the gas and when you feel the clutch re-engage go back to it? I'm very curious about it.
Cruisin' - congratulations on getting the confirmation done. As a #1383, maybe there is an end in sight!! The delivery of maybe the end of 2008 though is a bit more emotional deflation!!
As for the shifting, its really a matter of knowing when to shift that will take some getting use to. As with all new vehicles you get behind the wheel in, there's that comfort zone that needs to be acquired before you feel like you've got it all under control. I was the same way when I went from a Yamaha Roadstar cruiser to a FJR sport-touring. Just different animals than what you are used too.
We need to get some action here in the Arizona chapter!
This was stated some time ago, so I am restating it... Where is everyone?
It has been stated on other threads that Arizona is supposed to have one of the largest dealerships but our members have very little to say in this Chapter. Do we still have smart members from Arizona?
1188 and just got call from Smart Center Chandler. I am on their March-April distribution list. She said 60-90 days for delivery and I said "So end of May or June?". She laughed and said the 60-90 days is window, however, I am on the March-April distributions list so it could be sooner. Asked about VIN and she said they will let me know as soon as they get it. Now I'm starting to get excited again because at least I've reached "list" status!
