UPDATE

The car made it to the dealer on the 3rd. Was called on the 5th, car was repaired. Told adviser to ship it back to me.(about 200 miles) He said Ok might take a day. Told him no worries, will drive the 760. No car (Smart)over the weekend. A call on 9th said, smartusa has changed its towing policy. Smart service advisers have to jump though hoop to get a tow back. Just an FYI. PS. 760 will need fuel tomorrow, don't look forward to that?

Gosh Rick. Sorry to hear about your trouble. I had the same situation and it wasn't a simple lube job. Brian said they had to "line up the dots". I have no idea what that meant and I really don't think he did either, but that's what the service guys wrote. They had to remove my driver seat and the whole shifter assembly. That was a couple months ago and I've been fine since. I however, live in Chandler so had an easier inconvenience.

Adding my name to the roster. I'm in Cincy and we've been without power since Sunday. Went out to see a movie last night since there was nothing else to do and noticed the shifter was not wanting to move. Locked up in park trying to get out of the driveway this morning and wouldn't budge. Took the Miata to work and left the Smart in the driveway which meant my husband was stranded with no way to get in. 45 minutes on hold with roadside assistance and finally called the new dealership in Cincy. Got a guy in Porshe service who relayed the problem to the sales people. Finally got roadside assistance on the phone and an hour or so later the tow truck showed up. He didn't have a dolly to get the car on the flatbed so he left again to go get that. That was a few hours ago and they haven't returned so looks like I'm going to be without a second car at least another day.

2200 miles on the odomoter and already dead in the driveway. I guess I should be grateful the dealership is here now and I don't have to go to Columbus for repairs.
