Yuma information

I heard we may be moving to Yuma as our next duty station... Anybody here from Yuma or have any good information to help me?

(Don't tell me the place sucks because it won't after I get there...LOL)

Thanks for any help!

I don't live in Yuma but will welcome you to our State. Search the Members List for "Rick in Yuma". Send him a pm. He will probably be able to help you.

Use to do testing there. Hot in the summer. lots of snowbirds in the winter. never spent more than a couple of weeks there. Yuma was growing and has everything you would need. BIG offroad dunebuggie rec area just to the west in Cali.

Thank you both very much for your assistance. After being overseas it will be great to get back to a place where a single cantalope doesn't cost $60.00

I am no longer in yuma but, I was there win I was in the military. Being from michigan I hated it. This was back in 1997. Watch for snowbirds (they really dont know how to drive (so it seems.) It might be better now but when I was there not much in yuma.

Just my 2 cents
Tom

I'm in Iwakuni, Japan right now and this place is "NOT much here". The only drive-thru is McDonalds and the next closest American restaurant is a bullet train ride away!

Thank you for your reply.

Regarding the snowbirds...they are all over this time of year and Tom is right, they do not know how to drive !

Forget about McDonalds...In Yuma you have the best drive thru Hamburger Chain in the world. You have "In-n-Out". It is a family owned, uses all fresh items (no frozen burgers) started in Southern California and have locations now in Southern & Northern California, Nevada, Utah, & Arizona. One located right in Yuma...Check out their website at In-N-Out Burger - Welcome.

Here are several web sites for you to check on - www.ci.yuma.az.us/, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, and www.yumasun.com/

Hope this helps.

If you get to Yuma by March you'll get to see one of the best car shows
for the money you will ever find anywhere. Aprox. 900 cars displayed on
four baseball fields and the admission was $2.00 year before last.
Lots of California cars as well as ones from Phoenix first class show.
Take a look here for info.Midnight at the Oasis
I'm one of those Yuma Snowbirds you'll learn to hate.
