Humanity is turning to "scheisse "
Lady's and Gent's it is not about Bill mr74 owning a grey market car, it is about helping a fellow motorist out and those "Schweinehunde" at the dealership should have been more emphateic, about his situation.
He did not ask for a handout nor did he ask for an absurd request, he simply wanted to buy a wheel, for heavens sake. A WHEEL. And remember folks HUMANIty and EMPHATHY is for free you dont have to pay a penny for it.
Ich liebe euch.

I had planed a trip to MN at the beginning of April, before leaving on it I looked up all the SMART Car dealers between here and there, just in case I ran into a problem on the way, that way I would have someone to call and help me out… I still had all the numbers in my car… I started calling… I discovered that all the dealers, except Dallas, carry rims and tires on hand, and everyone of them was willing to sell me just one alloy rim, plus they were willing to over night it to me… I was amazed… I called Dallas back…
Rather than complaining about the dealer in Dallas, why didn't you just order the rim from the other dealer that had it in stock? They probably would have sent it to you by the time you finished typing your first post.
Everyone keeps saying that the rim is the same on 450 as 451 yes it is a nine spoke rim but the 2008 Smart has smaller spokes which makes them look different so in a way they are not the same. Bolt pattern yes would be same.
The Dallas Smart Dealer is very helpful and go out of their way to assist you.

Sorry for your bad experience but Grey is Grey.

Ordering from another dealer was what I did, but the fact remains that Dallas was very un-helpful, un-caring, and more so un-professional… All most as if they went out of their way to make it as hard as they could on a 450 owner… By the way, Dallas had the rims in stock also, but wouldnt willingly sell it to me because I wasnt one of their customers... I didnt say that, they did!
Bill I don't know who you talked to at Dallas but I was at the dealership earlier today and asked them about the situation and seems like the lady I talked to weren't aware of you calling requesting a wheel because you were stranded.
I have gotten to know their staff quite well ever since they opened and they have been very helpful, caring, and are very professional. I've worked in luxury retail for about 15 years and has dealt with many types of customers, sales associates, and managers so I know what good customer service is all about. I've called them before they open and did not tell them I was going to be a customer and asked them a bunch of odd ball questions (trust me I can ask questions that get people pissed at me) about the smart and never did they come across as unprofessional.
I'm sure they were very helpful... I was at they're sister store in Bedford (they had a blue SMART in on trade) and was talking to a few people there, even they had heard about what had happened at the Dallas store... They were very disappointed how things had gone and were apologetic, I was told the situation had been fixed…
Now why apologize unless you did something wrong and what would there be to fix if everything is ok? Even they know that what they did was wrong… Doesn’t really matter though I’ll just tell anyone that asks me, where they can get a SMART, to the Round Rock store… Seeing as how no one from Dallas will even admit that they should have done things differently, and a apology from the sister store is kind of pointless… that would be like you or I saying sorry for something that a member of our family dose wrong, doesn’t really carry the same weight…
Truthfully… My SMART rim was fixed, I have a spare, and I am over being mad… I’m still not happy about the Dallas dealer and still wont be sending anyone to them… That’s a personal choice on my part… I do of course worry about the next problem… My faith that Texans stick together, and SMART owners even more so, has been blown out of the water…
Bumblebee… I don’t know who I talked to either… Some guy that works in the parts department, but when your stuck somewhere broke down, who ever it is you talk to, at any dealer of any car manufacture, that one guy suddenly represents the dealership as a whole… In truth though I talked to 2 different people and got basically the same story from both of them, and the first guy put me on hold to talk to someone else about what to do, so there possibly were at least three… By the time the lady had gotten back to me, actually by the time the 2nd man got back to me, remember I had hours to figure things out, I already had another rim on the way from a different dealer (they didn’t care what I drove)… Like the saying goes, “To little, to late.” For all I know the second guy and the first guy could have been the same guy, I had after all talked to so many people between the two I don’t remember the voice… The last lady may not have known anymore more than I needed a rim and she did go out of her way (If I believe that she called a customer to find out if she could sell his rim and order him another, and wasn’t just selling me a rim they had on hand anyway…) to find me a rim… Had I talked to her first I’m sure I would have had a rim by the end of the day and been back on the road that night… But I didn’t… I got the jerk in parts…
If they had simply sold me the rim to start with this wouldn’t even be a topic…
Ok Guys Calm the tempers I also have a 450....not a conversion and also a diesel.
