Hello,
My name is Bryan Jackson, owner of Bryans Auto Supply in Eastland TX. I am currently working on the final stages of our 22nd Annual "Old Rip" Car Show, which is finding special attractions. Each year we try and find a different type of car club to attend and in return we make a donation to the club. This year I'd like to find a Smart Car Club to attend as one of our head turner treats. I recently purchased a Smart to promote my business and you'd thought I'd bought a space shuttle. Nonetheless, it would be a real treat to the community to bring several in. So, here's the offer. I will pay $500.00 to a Smart Car Club that will come to our show and bring at least 12 cars. If no clubs are interested, I'll pay $50.00 show money to the first 12 people that show up with a Smart. If interested, please feel free to read on and/or call me. You're promised a good time at this event as the news release below will disclose.
Eastland Texas is located about 60 miles east of Abilene and about 90 west of Ft Worth on I-20.
NEWS RELEASE What will be unveiled at Bryans 2008 “Old Rip” Car Show

In years past, Bryans has provided not only a place for many vehicle enthusiast to show and tell about their prize pocessions, but also unprecedented special attractions. Such attractions have Included the worlds largest school bus, named "Tigger", and the record setting 7000 horse power John Force Castrol funny car. From cars ordered mail order from Sears, to 4X4 Edsels, to Dodge Vipers, you will certainly be in awe at this FREE annual event. The continued growth of the event has provided an unparalleled car show event that has become a staple in West Texas for thousands of onlookers and tire kickers annually. And to further the fun and excitement, Bryan added a Dog Show last year that has become a part of the annual event.
When asked about the upcoming 22nd annual event, Bryan stated that all their family at Bryans enjoys putting together the show each year and that he personally enjoys all the people that the show brings together. Most people get wrapped up in the cars, and I too enjoy the cars, but I am a people person and I really enjoy doing something with, and for, our customers and potential customers. Through the years we’ve given away over 1500 trophies, 500 event shirts, thousands of caps and pens, and thousands in show giveaways. This has really got significant over the years and is really an awesome event. And as far as the dog show goes, its all for fun too. Every year it seems like more folks are bringing their dogs, so hey, lets allow the K9's a little stardom too. I enjoy the opportunity to give back to the community that has been so supportive of our family and businesses and I am looking forward to yet another year.
This year’s show will be held on Saturday October 4th, and will immediately follow the Old Rip Parade. New for 2008, no registration and no judging as all participants will receive an award. All participants will be allowed to leave anytime after 2:00PM. Once again Continental Battery Company will be on hand to cook all car Show participants FREE hamburgers. We may have seen you heading east on I-20 Sunday afternoon. My step father-n-law has told me about your car. He lives in Morgan Mill and is fascinated with the Smarts - as we all seem to be. Anyway, look forward to seeing you. I'm excited to think we may have several in attendance at the show.
My wife and I just drove to Eastland and met Bryan and Tina. We got to check out their white and black SMART, very nice looking car. If you ever get to Eastland, or close to it, you have got to stop and visit them at Bryans Auto Supply. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. We drove down town to the square, shared one parking place (double parked), and ate at a little Italian restaurant on the court house square. After that they took us on a drive around Eastland which was very enjoyable, two little SMARTs in the town caused quite a scene. We had a great time!
I really hope some others can make it out on October 4th and enjoy the family environment only a small community can provide. We will be there and Bryan and Tina will be there, so if it’s possible to make it you should be there also. It will be worth the drive. Come be part of the SMART family.
Bryan and Tina, we thank you for the visit and the tour, and if we don’t visit again before October 4th, we will see you then!
I have been looking forward to meeting other Smart car owners and this sound like the perfect place and event. I will be there. Will you be sending contact information and or letting us know where to be and what time?
Awesome! Just check out the above details and/or click the links and I think all your questions will be answered. If not, your certainly welcome to call me at (254) 629-2158.
I promised to reply to this with an update about mid month, so here it is.
We have a few Smarts that have obligated to be at our show. As well, the Big Country Vette Club will be in attendance. News articles are coming out in numerous surrounding town newspapers and we are looking for show entries to hit around 125. We have had as many as 158 and still done by 2:00PM. But we still have not had any Smart Club to take us up on our show money offer. I have had a few ask that we turn that offering into individual show money to help with gas, so if 25 to 50 bucks, depending on where your coming from, can get you here in a Smart, bring it on. I just ask that you let me know.
You'll like it if you come!
Thanks all,
Bryan Jackson
