Hey all!
This time, we are going to do something that is going to help out a bunch of kids this holiday season. CenTex is partnering with the Round Rock Smart Center and Southpark Meadows shopping center for Blue Santa! Every year, Southpark Meadows shopping center in south Austin host a Blue Santa event to help bring presents for underprivilaged children. They have all types of family fun things to do, laser light show, and I believe they bring in local bands to come and play on their stage (yes, the shopping center has a stage in their courtyard!), and they have invited CenTex to join in on the festivities. As it stands right now, efforts are being made to get CenTex a police escort by the Austin Police Department with lights and sirens (sort of a GRAND entrance) to an area of parking just outside the main stage, thus making us the center of the show! We can then bring our new and unwrapped toys over to Blue Santa. Now, in order for us to have the luxury of enjoying the festivities while our smarts show off their stuff, the Round Rock Smart Center is going to be there to answer questions about the smart brand.
The event is December 12 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. We will stage at 5:00pm, allowing time for folks to get there and get their smarts decorated for the holidays (think battery operated christmas lights, giant santa hats, reindeer antler, whatever you can come up). Once all the details are completely finalized, I will let everyone know if there are any changes or updates.
Round Rock Smart Center is also taking any toys from anyone for the event. So, if you know someone who would like to give, but, can't make it, that is where they can bring them. Personally, since I am going to be the host house for all of our friends for Thanksgiving, I have created a rule. If they want to eat, they have to bring a new toy for me to take to Blue Santa.
Now, just want to throw this out there to everyone. With the economy the way it now-a-days, there are a lot of families out there struggling, and this is one way for you to take four hours and at most 10 bucks to make a childs Christmas one to remember. They aren't asking for much, they are mostly looking for simple toys like infant toys, coloring books, a box crayons, a toy car. No need to spend tons of money on getting a child that Hummer power wheels with MP3 player and hydralics.
