How much are the extended warranties

I would like to know what the dealers are charging for extended warranties? If you could tell me the length, coverage and cost that would be helpful to me and many others. Such as 5 year/ 100,000 bumper to bumper for xxxx or 4 year / 48000 powertrain for xxxx. thanks for the info in advance.

From another post:

Extended warranty from around $495 for 3yr/36,000 miles to around $1,195 5yr/100,000 miles.

and you have 1 year or 12,000 miles (which ever comes first) to decide on extended warranty.
Your smart center can give you the details.

Thanks, I know my Smart center can give me their information and I will check with them. Most of the time the Finance guys don't like the salespeople to talk prices on the floor, they would rather have the customer wait until they get them in their office. The saleseople if you can get them to give a price will only give a range. I was a finance manager for 11 years so this I know. Each part of the dealership is a seperate profit center. Extended warranty prices are set by the individual dealers. Their cost may be the same depending on if they use the same warranty companies. There are many service contract companies on the market. So if one dealer sells his plan for 1800 and another sells his for 1500 for the same coverage I can either buy from dealer 2 or I can use this info to negotiate with dealer 1. so for all you lucky people that have picked up your Smarts what is the scoop on Extended Service Contract prices/

Sorry. I can't give you the prices. I do know that when I purchased my lil smart that there were 3 warranty options available. 1. was the extended smart warranty. I guess this was by smart or PAG? 2. was a warranty by the dealership. Supposedly this one had the better coverage and price. 3. was for wheels/tires. I think there's a thread around here somewhere about extending the smart warranty.

I did a search of the forums and found this link from February which lists all the Extended "Warranty" pricing.

I should note that my dealer did not offer the Warranty options suggested by PAG, but instead put together their own variation which was more limited and expensive in my opinion.

I'm still deciding on whether to buy a third party service contract.

The extended warranties really vary, so it is almost impossible to make a apples to apples comparison. They usually range (for 5 yrs./100,000) from about $1,000 to $2,750 for the "cover everything including hotel stays during out-of-town repairs. I can only sugggest that you look them over from your dealer before you go in to pick it up. The devil is in the details. Good luck.
