In Arlington, TX and have both the rear and front plate mounted. No reason to make it any easier for law enforcement to pull me over.

I'm also interested in what's under your front seat! Nothing exciting is ever under mine!

To Plate or not to Plate??

As one of the dreaded PoPo, it really wouldn't make since not to put the front plate on. It would make it difficult to "offically" pull over all the other violators if I don't follow the laws myself. Since the smart gets enough looks and attention by itself why add to a more thorough inspection of your great car. And NO my smart won't be sitting at the donut shop as we don't have one, but you'll find it at the best Mexican restaurant (Alfredo's) down the street soon.

I know it's a late post, especially since I've seen you've got your front plate on. Heck your front bumper (and plate) is in the first picture we took of our car.

We have no plans on putting the front plate on ours. I've been driving without a front plate for all of my driving career without any troubles. I've had a few warnings about having one when I've been pulled over, but the plate issue was always an after thought if the cop was being a tough guy.

No front plate required in Michigan, and I'm glad of it. You're only issued one plate unless you specifically ask for two (even with personalized plates), and the Sec. of State charges an additional bump for the second one...

There's no way I'd put a front plate on my Cabrio, even if it was free; the car looks a bzillion percent better without it, IMHO.

Hi, I'm in San Antonio Texas and I have both front and rear plates. I think it's a Texas law also to have all the words on the plates to be visable. I have vanity plates on my Smartie and I don't have a plate holder atm. I haven't found one that doesn't cover parts of the words. I really don't want a ticket. Happy driving!

If I do recall, so many Texans got pissed about the covering up TEXAS on the plate being a law, they they dropped it off the books. I could be wrong, but that is what I heard a while back.

Both plates now

The "word" Texas ( state ) can't be covered on the rear plate. Mine was covered up and I was cited... but they were okay with front plate as it is only required to be on the car.
I had a tow mount bracket for the front plate and have just remounted to factory position.
It came loose twice ( with locite on the treads ) and the rattle and vibration scared my wife. Second time we almost lost the front plate.
