Could that possibly be a form letter saying, "Hey, you're still in the system. We will get back to you on configuring your car. Check out the cool DDE on our home page and see if you can get an estimated delivery date while you are patiently waiting."

Not bad for DDE. I ordered mine Sept 2007 and my DDE is July - Sept 2009! I'm keeping that reservation, but I bought an orphan 2 weeks ago. The car is well worth the wait, in 2 weeks we have already put 2200 miles on it and laugh all the way to the gas pump.

If your ETA is 4Q08/1Q09 you will likely get an '09 model.

I have heard from dealer that my 04.28.2008 reservation will likely be for an '09 model year, but havent been given any info on what changes to expect. Rumors are No Yellow and Redder Red.

I, like many others, am anxious to learn about any changes to options and prices for '09

This reservation, DDE time frame just doesn't sound right at all.

I reserved on 9/8/07 (#1347).

I confirmed on 4/4/08.

My DDE says December 08 - Feb 09.

That means I'll have waited 15 to 17 months for this car! Even people who are reserveing now are looking at less than a year wait. Those that were early reservers also wated a year or so. It seems to me that those of us who reseved last fall have the longest wait of all.

Then I hear that those confirming as little as one week after me are getting 09's!

Does smart really think poeple will wait 17 months to buy an '08 car in Feb 09?

don't panic. the DDE gets more accurate as delivery time approaches.
it's probably safe to say it'll be at least a year.
there are apparently now over 50,000 reservations. with only a few thousand already delivered. the math speaks for itself.

Configured 1 March 08.
DDE estimates delivery Dec 08 - Feb 09.
19 to 21 months wait for reserved and configured smart.
Glad I got an orphan that was close enough to what I wanted.

I think if your dealership is the DFW one AND if you didn't have a typo for your information there then you're moving ahead of those who have waited considerably longer. You JUST reserved in April of 08 and have an DDE a month earlier than mine. I reserved in May of 07 apx one year earlier than you.

It's weird the DDE won't give me a date. That why I emailed Smart and got that response. I was quite surprised because I had figured a year but I will certainly take Nov08 thru Jan09 all day long. In TX I'll be driving with the top down at that time.
