I also don't see the problem if you are really interested in the car. $500 now or $500 when you pick it up - still the same money and not some "preminum" or attempt to rip off. It is to hold a spot. No real difference than ordering a car and waiting on it's delivery. If not, sore - then yeah. Drive it first.
