Texas Personalized Plates Gonna Cost More

For those of you who haven't gotten their personalized plate yet or are thinking about it, now is the time to get it before they raise the price. They will jack up the price starting Thursday, Nov. 19 and are making it a real luxury item. For those of you who already have vanity plates, you are "grandfathered" and can renew at the old price as long as you do it before they expire. Here is the link to the article which explains it all:

Vanity's price: More on new license plate charges | Houston & Texas News | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

The new price is just outrageous for a piece of aluminum that probably costs $1.00 to make.

In a state with no income tax, it's just one more way to raise money through fees and fines. The state government has become a master at such machinations, and this is just one more in a long series of such stuff.

Susan, did you read WHY they did it? Due to the expansion of I-10! They could have put in a passenger rail to downtown using the existing rail that shut down back in the mid '90s, but instead they make the freeway 175 lanes wide to accommodate more cars... GRRRRRRR!!
