If you pay more than $150 your getting taken for a ride... if they charge more than that its because they dont want to take the effort to do the rear window... Its a pain... and if they over price it they figure you'll pay it or they wont have to do it...

I just had my windows tinted in Austin by Mother's Window tint and they look great. Cost me $149. While I was there I heard the manager take a call from a guy that wanted darker than legal on his car. I think Texas law is 35% and he wanted 5% (I think that's light coming thru but I'm not sure). The manager politely told him what was legal in Texas and offered to do it for him at a reasonable rate and a professional job. The guy hung up on him. It was nice to hear the manager being honest, legal, and polite. Plus, my smart looks really cool (and cooler on the inside).

I can tell you that during the yearly safety inspection they do test the windows for how much light can go through. So IF he gets it tinted and less light can pass through than is allowed by law? They will NOT issue a safety sticker. One also needs to keep in mind whether or not there is any tint in the glass itself. Because the tint applied plus the glass itself will both be factored in when measuring the amount of light that can come through the glass.

My tint guy told me that in Texas the legal for front is 35% but the back you can get as dark as you want.
