When we were getting ready for the Gatlinburg Christmas parade where 16 of Tennessee smart owners participated in the parade, I had a hard time finding good ideas for smart decoration for the holidays. I thought I'd share a photo of what I did. The smartcar mouse was a huge hit!!
You can't see it here, but sticking out the trunk is a large felt tail stuffed with recycled grocery bags. It's tip is tied to the roll bar with fishing line to give it a "moving" feel.
The nose is crooked obviously because we weren't ready for the pic yet. It's attached to the windshield wipers with fishing line. It's made from a styrofoam half ball covered in red material and six balsam wood slats painted black.
The ears are cardboard covered in grey and pink felt. You have to keep an additional 4 to 5 feet of felt that stuffs through the door hinges to make sure they hang tight. You have to cut the long piece into three sections: one for above the hinge, one between the hinges and one below the hinges. The rest on the mirrors and function well up to 20 mph.
The hat is a tree skirt placed on a standard sized umbrella. The lights are candy cane rope lights. We didn't have time to get everything done due to running REALLY late that day, but you should also add two buck teeth and for fun, a long fishing pole dangling cheese in front of the mouse.
Enjoy and duplicate!!
