That's great! I was thinking just the other day, that with so little body area a pearl paint job might just be affordable. Since I'm looking at all black (for the moment) a couple of coats of blue pearl would make that black paint interesting. Hmmmmm...

jetjazz,

could you ask tony, his paint color and process?

ie, did he start with a silver car, then add a clear blue peal coat (s) on top?

ie, what was the base coat, then next, and next, how many coats and what colors, how many coats of clear, if any.

basically, his whole process, of getting to this photo point.

also, i presume he removed panels, then painted?

except for the tridion, that he taped, after removing panels?

what sand paper did he use to sand, for prep first coat, between coats? how were the panels prepped, for painting? prep sol solvent, then light sanding, or ?

did he put flexor additives into the paint, since the panels are flexible? what paint brand/type used? what type additives, or additional metal flakes?

what air compressor pressure setting did he use for his paint gun?

any polishing needed on final coat, other than wax?
how long did he wait to let paint dry completely, before applying wax?

how long did the job take, start to finish?

if he had it painted, may he could call his painter, for some of these insights.

basically any info he would enjoy relating to a very interested audience.

2) wheels - five spokes, looks about as good as it gets. what brand? how much? where purchased? size width and wheel and tires? required new tires to fit new wheels? different size rear vs. fronts? cost of wheels and tires total package? (now wish i could have gotten the pure nice wheel covers oem from factory on the convertible, and add these as these five spokes as a 2nd set of summer wheels. impressed with these nice five spokes.)

3) did he change the exhaust tip? or exhaust? if so, how so?

thanks.

That is a full spectrum pearl - notice there is more going on there than just blue.

You would have to rough up the existing clear coat and then spray layers of pearl suspended in clear until you achieved the look that you want. Pearl ain't cheap, but somewhat affordable on this car, but be prepared for a several thousand dollar bill, and it's not a process for an amatuer.

I sent an email to Tony and asked him to chime in on the pearlesence paint. Hopefully he'll respond.

pearlesence

pearlesence is a special paint that when you
look at it , it changes from grey to pink depending
what angle you look at it
its a metalic paint.

wheels

wheels on mine & pearlesence are from a
company called :-

www.smartsrus.com

click on site , then enter
then click on [ shop ] on top of page

pearlesence wheels are:- schmidt space 16 inch
front and rear are same width, takes the same
tires all round.
standard wheels were 15 inch, front ones were
narrower then back, so reason to change was
for the better road holding.
