The running total I was told years ago was 75 chargers per season!. In the movie business cars are expendable. If your EVER approached by someone wanting to use your car for a movie, or commercial. Think of a few things before saying yes and ASK these questions....
1. Is it going to be driven in the project or just parked?
2. Is it going to be used in or around stunts?
3. Is it going to be wrapped or painted?
4. Can I drive it? or will it be a precision driver?
5. How long will you have it?
6. If it's destroyed, when will i get the check? and will the remaining parts be returned to me? ( this way you get to buy a new one and still have parts left over.)
7. And here is the most important one... to me at least. "Are there going to be cameras attached to it in any way?"
Reason for the last one is because alot of times we'll drill into the frame of the car underneath and swing an aluminum arm out from underneath and attach a camera to it, then on the opposite side attach another arm and pack that side with weight to counteract the weight of the camera for stability at high speeds, etc..
I have an acquaintance who rented out 3 classic land rover series vehicles to Bad Boys 2 as rentals for a few months......if you saw the movie, you also saw one was blown up by a bazuka and the other was shot up like swiss cheese. He Was never told he would not be getting his cars back, so he in turn charged them an exorbitant amount for purchasing the cars after the fact.. He got the rental and the purchase. nd those cars were recycled into soup cans or something. I believe they were left in the Dominican or Puerto Rico, or wherever was doubling for Cuba I believe.
