I got it off eBay (where else?). It's made by a company called Busch and is HO scale (1:87). I guess architects and the like use them for dioramas.

This is the eBay store: http://stores.ebay.com/Modellbahn-Herring,
and this is another specialty store that sells Busch models: http://www.hobbylinc.com/prods/uhh_bus.htm

The Hobby linc store has the sanitation version (!), 6 covered Smarts on a traincar, and a Smart with skis! Oh, and a pasture with crop circles should you find you need that ;)

Things not to do in a smart

For some reason, that radio control picture reminded me of a story I came across the other day:

"The owner of this car (a current American NCP Car Parks employee and former NASA employee) managed to forget that he had a 15ft retractable mast stuck to the roof of his car as he drove under a low barrier at a car park in Luton, Bedfordshire.

The mast on the smart car hit the low barrier with such a force that the entire vechile abruptly flipped backwards and landed (and stayed) pointing straight up.

Des Carmody, who took a picture of the calamity, said: 'There was a loud bang and I turned to see the car rising up in the air to settle on its tailgate.'

The unhurt driver immediately phoned his bosses to say, 'I've had a bit of an accident. I've done something stupid'."
