Road Trip

I took "Herbie" for a little drive to the top of Mt Hood in Oregon to take some photographs of a national landmark, Timberline Lodge. A friend from Scotland had an interest in the lodge as a possible vacation stopped and asked if I'd post a few shots.

For me Mt Hood is a local drive of about 120 miles one way. The scenery is breathtaking so why not, off I went. I was anxious to check out my mileage as I had recently switched to regular gas. This would be my second full tank so it would give me a chance to see if the engine pinged going up the mountain. All went well with a smooth running car that got me 43 mpg.

If you like wood you'd love this place.

Those are great photos. I do like wood and the one photo is really nice.

I named my Smart Fortwo Pure Herb. It is a shortened version of Herbie (the love bug).

Good that you made it up Mt. Hood! I lived in the vicinity of Colorado's Pikes Peak for around six years and never seemed to find the time to take the drive to the summit. That is, until I returned years later. Then, as a 'tourist', I finally did it.

I didn't make it to Timberline Lodge when I was in Oregon. But, since you're a local, I thought perhaps you'd be interested in a video I took from the west side of Mt. Hood.

What a beautiful picture and view. I need to make a trip there one of these days.
