Some VW models, yes, are built in the U.S.A. but there is only one plant that builds the New Beetle. The New Beetle is only built in Pueblo, Mexico.

Kind of off topic but...are you sure there are VW's built in the US? VW had a plant here in PA back in the 80's but they closed it. There was talk of building here again but I thought it never got past the talk stage.

Seems to me both cars performed the way the designers intended. They are cars, not battering rams.

Though, my coolest vehicle was my first: 1979 F-150. Couldnt even lock the doors but no one broke in to steel my $400 stereo system. Guess it lookedlike junk so no one care.

How are part looking as far as body shop repairs go? Are there enough parts avalable to body shop to repair smarts or are they totaled?
