Taking back compact car parking spots

No other car could fit here....except you know what!

Just had to share this with you all, looking forward to using compact car spots the way they intended them to be used

Too lazy to start my own post, so will RANT here on parking...

Has anyone else noticed that others take advantage of parking next to your smart?

Regularly, people park carelessly next to me, parking diagonally across the line with their mammoth trucks and SUVs so the FAT A$$ of their vehicle is in my rear half of MY parking space. They park so carelessly and close that sometimes it's hard to get my smart out of the space!

You're just noticing this now? People have been doing this long before the Smart came along. It happens so often that it's almost a joke. I could park my car far away from the store with no cars around at all, and when I come out of the store and get to my car there will be cars parked all around it. Since I park so far away from the store, I just think of it as my way of getting over-weight America to do some exercise as they walk (much further) to and from the store

Best thing to do is use the outer half of the space. Otherwise, I usually tend to favor the driver's side of my slot because I know that only sometimes will the guy to the left open passenger-side door, but the guy to the right will always open a driver-side door. Reduces the chances of getting whacked.

I do use the back half of the space when I have loading/unloading to do, so that I don't have to stand in a parking space grease spot.

But, I think it's even riskier to park in the back half of a space (based on experience). Careless people tend to clip the rear quarter panel area (bumper, fender, door) with purses, carts, their fenders, doors, etc. when parking, loading items, or getting in/our. Parking farther into my space seems to reduce exposure to damage.

So far, even with the annoyance of others trying to 'share' my space, I'd rather pull farther into the space.

Good point. It only happens if I have to take my mom to an appointment (elderly), or when in a hurry. Or, at the airport parking lot.

I do.

As long as they don't slam open their doors on the smart.
