Uploading Photos and Posting in Threads

As you may know SCOA has a gallery area that allows for all registered users to upload and share photos. To help you out, I've added the basic steps to adding a photo to the gallery and sharing in a thread below.

First things first, getting to the gallery and select the upload link:

Next, chose the photo you would like to upload and fill out the title, description, and area you would like to upload it:

After clicking submit, you should have successfully uploaded a photo.

Next, you will likely want to share your photo in the forums and there are a couple ways to do so.

First option, copy the "Direct Link Code":

Select the "Add Image" icon when creating a post and paste "Direct Link Code" when prompted:

Second option, copy the "BB Image Code" and paste it into any post:

THE END. You should now know how to upload images to the gallery and share then in the forums.

Can you add a description/name of the photo after it's uploaded? How do you delete photos? Is there a limit to the number of photos you can have?

Thanks for the info!

Thank you SMART for a clear, to the point, how-to.
Next, do the same for "Edit", both in the Gallery and in the general posting. I.e. few posters seem to prefer double posting than editing their original post. They may have missed the little "Edit" button that is available only on their own posts... Thank you.

To edit a photo all you do is select "edit image" from the Image Tools dropdown in the top right corner of an image.

To delete a photo PM me with a link to the photo.

Thank you oh great Smart One.;] I definitely was having a time trying to get my photos uploaded. I tried one day for almost an hour but to no avail. Then later after another attempt I got it to work. But I don't think I could have explained as well as you did. Thanks.

Hey, Adminstrator

In your post photo instructions long about where it says "First option, copy the "Direct Link Code":" You should add something that tells people to not include the "http://" when copying the link. It took me awhile to realize this because when it is pasted in the window it shows the middle of the link and one does not see that there is a double"http://" at the front. This causes an error.

However, if you correctly paste the photo link into the "Insert image" tool, usually the http:// in that window is highlighted when its is first opened, and the pasted link replaces it. By first removing the http:// from the image tag then may result in NO http's being present in the address!

BOTTOMLINE- check to make sure duplicate http:// don't exist in the beginning of the address!

When you are in a sub-forum, above this post you see a blue button to "Post Reply". When you are in a forum (i.e. "Site Questions, Suggestion & Problems") you'll see the same button is labelled "New Thread". That's it.

Choose "Forums" then choose the area where you want to start the new thread such as "general discussion" or "new members" or whatever. Double click on that. You'll then get a screen with a list of the threads in that area. Just above the thick read line on the left side you'll see a button to "new thread." Click on that and you're ready to go.
