Dealers and VIN#s?

Has anyone had a dealer that refused to provide the vin number or stalled?

I was curious if anyone has been able to get a rough idea of when the dealer gets the vin number?

Today I got the call that I am 30 days away... Still no VIN...

Any advice?

It was previously posted that only Managers have access to 'smart 1', the site where the 'R-11' is posted as soon as the car is near production. This is where the specifics are listed, including the VIN. If you did get the 30 days notice, it means that your 'R-11' is available. Ask your smart Center Brand Manager.

Thank you! I have sent the email... I will share what I learn... (or don't)

They should be able to give me a price too by now, wouldn't you think? I have the money already, I just wanted to get a better idea of what I need to get the check cut for...

I got my 30-day notice from scVAB by email from Paige Bias. A day or so later I called in and Paige gave me the VIN over the phone. She may have more horsepower than the brand specialists out on the floor. And Gary Gullickson certainly does.

Thanks for the Tip. I have contacted Paige before so I am sure she will help me. I sent an email to both...

Question - did they provide you with the final cost too at that time? I was curious how early they can provide that amount?

Thank you for all the information. I'm really close to delivery now - time to get excited I suppose.

Call your salesperson.

I sweated the $$$ leading up to my sale too, because my Credit Union is in MSP, my dealer is in PDX, and I was somewhere in between.

I called my saleperson and he was able to provide a sale sheet for the total cost that I faxed to my CU. The CU dropped the loan proceeds in my account before I headed out to PDX on Amtrak (a nice way to go, BTW). And I wrote a personal check to scPDX when I took delivery.
