Hi Smart, I visited a smart center at 4227 Lankershim Blvd today. The name on the front was smart Center Universal City?? Also they had alot of cars. They have delivered 3 and had 25+sitting on the lot.

I believe that many cars arrived incomplete in that accessories were not shipped with the cars. Also some cars were damaged in transit, including mine, and since the company is so new, there aren't many replacement parts yet. This has slowed down deliveries considerably, I was told to wait at least a week more for mine.

The people there seem really nice, Anna, the sales manager was very helpful over the phone and in person.

Accessories (floor mats, smoking kits, emergency kits, rear cargo covers) are shipped separate from the cars and can be purchased at the parts counter. These items are not configured with the car. Your car as configured should arrive complete off the truck.

Damage, of course, happens between the factory and the dealer. Most is caught at the processing center at the docks. But if it happens on the truck to the dealership, your dealer has to fix things before delivering the car to you. Parts are not fully available, yet.

My damage happened on the boat, or so they say. smart center Universal City stepped right up and ordered new body parts as well as the lamp assembly. They said it was around $1000 for a complete color change kit and the cost of just a replacement fender and bumper (esp. at their price!) made it cheaper to replace rather than repair.

My wife's car will be here within the next two weeks and I should get mine next week!! It has gone from the lot and moved to the service dept. while it awaits the last two parts which are now in transit from Detroit. All of this is due to the understandable difficulties of rolling out a totally new car with all new dealers. I bought a new Honda Civic the first 3 months they were available back in 1974 IIRC and it was the same way for the first year. After the parts bins were fully stocked and the techs were up to speed they were no longer start-up operations and they became the Honda we now know so well.

Hello all. Todd here. Your brand specialist from Smart Center of Universal City. Just an update. We received our first shipment of smarts on 1/14 at about 8:20 pm. SmartUSA promised that the U.S. would receive smarts mid January and so we did. Our first test drive was on 1/15.

Since that day we have delivered 20 smarts to their owners leaving 16 smarts still on the lot. Another shipment is on the way and yes we have contacted the expecting reservationists.
