Just got back from the Universal City shop because my gauges (RPM and clock) just arrived and were installed today. What a joy! I walked in, everyone remembers you and comes up to say "hi" and to see how you and your smart are; really a family like atmosphere, very comforting.

I was offered a ride back and forth to the dealer, even for the short (2 hour) time the work needed to be done. Plus we drove back and forth in a cabriolet with the top down . . . and it was a perfect day for it.

In summary, my love affair with this car and this entire experience continues. Yes the product is awesome, but this is easily the best dealership I've ever had the pleasure of buying from. Thanks Universal!

Picked mine up today

I'm another happy customer from smart center universal. They really are the greatest. To my surprise, Todd had installed all of the accessories I had purchased while I was meeting with Anna to do the paper work. Thank you, Todd and Anna, Adam and Julie. Receptionist, sales, finance, and parts are all wonderful.

Res. 3/22/07(1176) - config. 10/15/07 - del. 3/27/08(seven weeks and six days after my 30 day call.

Anna says this shipment was late because the ship was damaged going through the Panama Canal. It was stuck there until another ship with a final destination near Panama could be sent to bring the load the rest of the way. That would explain why some people with later vin #s were getting their cars before this batch. They must have been on a different ship.

Suggestion: Order your accessories when you get your 30 day notice. Some of them can take a while to get.

Come see our naked smart

Our Tridion Safety Cell display just arrived yesterday. From what I understand, there are very few dealers who have them so far. Stop in if you're interested in seeing how your smart is constructed.

If you don't mind me asking what was the total damage, parts and installation?

BTW, Elizabeth in parts ROCKS!

I recall it was somewhere in the vicinity of 250 - 300 dollars. I'll have to look for the exact amount. Sorry I don't have it handy at this second. Yeah, Elizabeth (and all the crew there for that matter) is awesome!

We had a great visit with Adam and Todd yesterday afternoon and let them take a good look at our little oil burner, Adam even took it for a little spin. Then we wandered over to take a look at the goodies and Elizabeth was very helpful in seeing that we left several of our Washington dollars there. Truly a great visit with a wonderful crew.

Universal Smart Center is where I got my Orphan and found an a rare car buying experience.

I can't say enough nice things about Anna, Todd, Adam and the Amazing Parts Department "Elizabeth". She finds things for my Smart that others can't.

I take my boys to see the "Gang" and their favorite Display Cars the Yellow & Blue ones are big hits. They have gone out of their way to make me feel special and my family.

They are worth the trip to visit If you are not on their Orphan List get on it!

Best to the "Gang" at Universal Smart Center.

Hi Universal Smart Center,

I reserved my Blue/Black Smart but I'm sure it is going to be awhile before I get a call from you #1577.

You are the closest dealer to me and I'm still some 60 Miles away. I was wondering if you were offering any Third Party Accessories IE BRABUS, Lorinser, or S-MANN? Also I am defiantly planing some alloy rims.

I also need some measurements of a few area with the Smart Coup.
If someone or you guys could whip out a tape measurements and post back it would be greatly appreciated.

What is the hight of the Tach/Clock from the top of the dash to the top of the gage. The width of the two gauges mounted from left edge to right edge. Distance from top of gauge to windshield in vertical measurement.

The area behind the seats at the floor board (For stereo amp etc). There are some mentions of people mounting amps right behind the seats but not in the cargo area.

The FirstAid/Safty Kit option What size is its outer dimensions before installation into the tailgate. That space could be used for amps/other.

What is on the floorboard? Once I get the Smart I will be pulling everything out and DynaMat the entire car. Is there rubber or any kind of padding that will need to be pulled up? Is it glued?

Thanks
I will be looking forward to meeting with you when my number comes up.

William

Measurements

William, these are some unusual requests but I will humor you any way.

Each instrument is 3.175 inches wide and 4.175 inches high and installed 1.625 inches apart and there are approximately 2 inches on the long side of the vertcal measurement between instruments and windshield.
Floor space behind driver seat is 8 inches from seat to rear direction and 12 inches wide and then 8 inches on slant up towards rear storage area.
What's under carpet? It shouldn't matter if you're ripping it up but I couldn't tell you without me ripping it up to check (not doing that).
Safety kit is not available in the U.S. but the inside storage area on the rear door measures 35 inches X 9 inches. By the way, you can purchase the contents of the safety kit inividually but not the kit itself.
Now that I'm done measuring, my coworkers want to know why I am measuring the clusters. So tell me, why am I? Are you customzing the dash in some way?
