I think the problem for red interior lovers is that many Smarts come with the Comfort package and then you can't have the red interior. What you can do if you have get one with the Comfort package is go to an automotive upholsterer and have them remove the cloth center panel from the back and have them sew in a red panel of your liking, suede, leather, cloth, neoprene, animal fur, etc. to personlize your ride.

...or just order the red leather inserts from Katzkin Leather Interiors.

Not Happy At All With Smart Center Laguna Niguel!

Smart Center Laguna Niguel Sold my Smart Car to Someone Else before I Even Had a Chance To Go Down to the Dealership to Buy It!

They sent me an email (as you can see below) stating that my Smart Car will be ready and Dean Terrones will keep me advised on when I should go down to Smart Center Laguna Niguel to pick it up.

Exactly 4 days after I received the 1 and only email from Smart Center Laguna Niguel I received a call from Smart Car USA asking me why I never down to Smart Center Laguna Niguel to pick up my car. I explained to them that I am still waiting for Dean Terrones from Smart Center Laguna Niguel to contact me. The person at Smart Car USA told me that Smart Center Laguna Niguel had SOLD my Smart Car that I have been WAITING for was SOLD! He mentioned that Smart Center Laguna Niguel had sent me a few emails and tried calling me a few times and I had not responded to them.

Basically I just want everyone to know how Smart Center Laguna Niguel RIPPED me off by SELLING the Smart Car out from under me that I had been WAITING FOR OVER A YEAR TO BUY to someone else!!!!

The only reason any dealership would to something like this is because they had a customer that wanted a Smart Car just like the one I had ordered and by not having one on the floor they ended up selling my Smart Car that I had put in order over.

I called Mark J. Derengowski who is the General Manager of Smart Center Laguna Niguel Many Times and he didn't Even have the DECENCY or the BALLS to call back and try to find me another Smart Car.

I have contacted my Lawyers and in-fact I do have a case to file with them. The reason that I was Buying the Smart Car was only for advertising purposes. Being that I own a successful Advertisement Firm in OC I will make it my Passion to Advertise to Everyone on the Internet How I was RIPPED OFF by Smart Center Laguna Niguel and Mark J. Derengowski.

Wow, I'm sorry they did that to you NOT HAPPY. I mean I CAN believe it because I do think that they have some major problems with their customer service skills. And it seems like the only person that's a part of this forum who seems beyond happy with their service is MMMEAT which makes me wonder if he doesn't actually work there.

It is my understanding however that you are given 30 days to claim your car. That is exactly what I was told right before my car came in and I even waited about a week and a half before I actually picked it up. This was back in April but I wouldn't think that the policy would have changed in that time. It also seems like since they DID get rid of your car and CLAIM that they contacted you several times the burden of proof should be placed on them to prove that they indeed sent these e-mails and made these calls. Something I doubt they'll be able to do.

Good luck with case and let me know if there's anything I can do to help you. I think that the Smart Corporation should be notified about how one of their dealers is treating customers. I'm sure there's another mercedes dealership that would love the business and would certainly treat their customers better. I do have to say however that since all of my issues with them the maintnence people have been a much much better joy to deal with.

Oh and one more thing. The car is so amazing it makes all of it worth it even though I wish it could have been a much more enjoyable car buying experience.

I stopped by there a couple times while driving to LA and the couple times I went it seemed DEAD there. No orphans... no salesmen around really... no action! I'm glad Smart Center San Diego has such great people and service.

I had great response from Laguna Niguel. I dealt with both Tracy and Dean as I went in 2 weeks before buying the car to take a test drive. Tracy helped me. When I went in this last Saturday but Tracy was off. I asked Dean what was available in an 09 Passion with heated seats and power steering and he had 4 to choose from (all different colors). I chose the silver with black stripe and drove it home that afternoon. I couldn't be happier with the service. I did discover one problem a couple days later. The driver side heated seat is not working. I am scheduled to have it fixed this coming Friday (my convenience) and I am sure it will be.
