I just searched for 'smart center walnut creek' on google and came up with a craigslist job listing. The listing was posted on 19 September and they need a parts and service manager. Anyone in the SF bay area with experience? As soon as someone interviews we can all find out how long it will be before we can switch to WC from horrible, frightening SF.

I finally got a DDE. December 2008 to February 2009 . I guess they better be opening pretty soon.

Well, 2 days ago I had a DDE of Oct-Dec '08. Now it is blank and can't be estimated. ~sigh

Drove by today. There is new paper over the tall showroom windows. Perhaps they may be starting the interior modifications/construction but there is nothing to see.

My DDE got moved up to Oct to Dec 08. They have to be opening soon.

I received an email from SF SMART about a week ago. Called them today and am informed "it should be here the 23rd of October" and ready within a day or two after.
Was never aware of a WC location opening. That would be at least 20 miles and unknown minutes (or hours) closer for me.
Was quite surprised that SF will not accept "cashiers checks nor bank checks" but will accept personal checks! (or cash, of course)
Are we citizens now more reliable/trustworthy than B of A?
Poor ol' Mr. Giannini must be rolling over.

I have a VID number but, Luke and others mention a 4 digit number (1423?). Where do I find that number?

Your 4 digit number is the last 4 numbers of your reservation number. Check the first email you got. From another thread.....

The last four digits represent the date that you reserved. It is the number of days counting froward from 1/1/04 to the day of reservation. So March 19, 2007, the first day reservations could be made, equals 1173 (1173 days after 1/1/04). Other numbers translate as follows:

1186 = 4/1/07
1216 = 5/1/07
1247 = 6/1/07
1277 = 7/1/07
1308 = 8/1/07
1339 = 9/1/07
1369 = 10/1/07
1400 = 11/1/07
1430 = 12/1/07
1461 = 1/1/08
1492 = 2/1/08
1521 = 3/1/08

I haven't found my original email but, the car is coming so I don't care now.
I ordered in Oct of last year.

Now, if all goes well at the SF dealer next Sunday, I will be driving my new wheels home to the East Bay!
