AMGEN Tour of California 2009

On February 22nd, stay away from the Escondido/Valley Center/Harrah's/Palomar areas. Unless you like bicycles. Specifically The AMGEN Tour of California bicycle race. Did I mention crowds? And traffic?
I will be up on Palomar with a vehicle - don't know which one yet, helping somewhat with the race.

But wouldn't be cool if there were a passel of smarts parked on the side of the road when the cameras go by? This is shown on TV on the Versus channel every day this week. Today was from San Jose to Modesto. Next Saturday will be from Santa Clarita (near Magic Mountain) to Pasadena. The big finale is in San Diego County.

Yeah, I once held a USCF amateur Master's license, and would still do what I could if asked. As a few might recall (OK, one - "JPaul"), I would like to have my smart equipped with one of the Euro, alternating two-tone (hi-lo) horns, characteristic of the Mavic neutral support cars. We have a lot of road cyclists training on the roads here-abouts, and there is nothing as comforting as hearing that horn somewhere behind you - a "friend" approaching.

Yeah, retired category 1 here. I'd like one of those horns too.

I get a front row seat as I live just off of Bear Valley Parkway. Was thinking of BBQing and just happen to have a bunch of water and sodas that I could sell. But are there that many people?

I will be at the bottom of the South Grade all day Sunday - no smart car though.

A U.S. sourced possibility may be the Wolo # 415-MCDTK. The trick is, where to put it - the two trumpets are about 8" long and the compressor about the size of a soup can and within 10".
