We haven't discussed it for a while, but who is going to the party in LA for the smart's 10th birthday? I have RSVPed, but we were talking about the San Diego County people meeting in Oceanside and convoying up. A friend suggested meeting at the rest area up the road. Easy on and off the freeway. Just need a time for the "pre-meet". I think the party starts at 10:00 am, so a 9:00 am departure from the rest area should work.

You may want to rethink your route. Getting to the West Covina smartcenter will probably be quicker coming up I-15 to the 10 or 71 to W. Covina. smartiePrincess and I would love to meet up again with the S.D. bunch in Corona and arrive as a group.

Ran the address through my GPS and it said the fastest way was I-5 north to 57 north to I-10 west to Azuza St. I live 1/2 mile from smart center San Diego.
Now the Escondido/North county group, probably faster up I-15 and meet up with your group in Corona.
Probably end up with two groups - who knows - let's talk.

I ran the two routes through MS Streets & Trips and came up with I-5 route being 112 mi. & 1:38 drive time. The I-15 route is 117 mi. & 1:47 drive time. Keep in mind that the I5/55/57/22 "Orange Crush" can be a problem even on a Sat. morning.

smartiePrincess and I plan to be at the Corona Crossings Starbucks at 8:00 am that morning to meetup with any Sun Diegans coming that way. (We figure you'll be ready for a leg stretch, nature break and caffiene refill at that point. We'll head out form there at 8:30 am and be to West Covina in plenty of time for the event. (Sorry Shanna, another EARLY morning!)

To get to Corona Crossings, take the Cajalco Rd. exit. At the exit, turn right, proceed to the first light, turn left. Take the left at the first Stop Sign, (there's an On The Border on the corner), and proceed to Starbucks. Look for "Charley", smartiePrincess and me.

Hi there Sun Diego smarties!

Mary, "smartiePrincess", and I are going forward with the plan to meet at the Starbucks in south Corona Saturday morning to then drive to the big birthday bash.

An email I received this morning suggested being there early to assure getting a goodie bag. Although the event starts at 10:00, we plan on being there by 9:15 to avoid the rush. That means we'll be at Starbucks, (2690 Tuscany St. in Corona for you GPSers), at 8:00 and we'll head for West Covina no later than 8:40.

Full info about the event can be found at SoCal Smarties (Los Angeles, CA) - Meetup.com you can RSVP for the event there. We would also appreciate knowing how many of you are planning to drive up via the I-15 route and plan to stop at Starbucks.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
