I didn't think that mistake would keep me smart-less this long. But now I'm an 1190 and just hoping I don't get tired of waiting and decide to keep my money instead. I would probably eventually get one, but who knows... The smart would be really fun, but lack o' car loan would be fun, too.
I was an insider who hesitated a bit before making my reservation. I shouldve been an 1173 but ended up an 1199 instead. Now, like you, I sit here waiting. Oh well. Ya snooze ya lose

man, I was so on top of it though... I probably stopped checking the day before it went live... Oh well. I'm kinda glad now... With potential power steering issues popping up, and air bag issues in Canada, and transmission linkage issues here... I'd rather wait until this stuff is resolved.

unfortunately this is the bad side of the internet. all of the issues you list may or may not be a widespread problem. i've experienced none of the above to this point. but once one person makes a statement about an airbag, oh lordy....the cars all have an airbag problem. guess we'll wait to see if the problems develop further. personally, i'm not gonna lose any sleep over it. i have to think that if there is an airbag issue, smart would be pretty dang on top of it considering the potential liability issue involved.

Oh no! It's the GRAPEVINE! I've come to believe little that I read on the internet. This is a great little car, I pick mine up Monday but remember it's still just a car (a great one though )

bmx43, I agree with you wholeheartedly, EXCEPT that we've seen some long-time posters here (meaning they've been here long before they got their cars) talk about some similar issues.

I also agree that this doesn't mean it's wide-spread, but probably is a hiccup in the system; one that it appears is being checked out at the docks (given recent posts about backlogs there).

Does it make it an unreliable car? No. It makes it a new model, with some mods specific for US drivers. Frankly, if the backlog story is true (and it makes sense), it's actually a GOOD thing - that these are being taken care of ahead of time before delivery. Kudos to whomever deserves them.
