Beverly Hills smart Center and Smart Madness are bringing you
the smart 1 Year Anniversary Event. The starting point will be
at BHsmart Center and will end at the rooftop of the Peterson
Museum with lunch. We'll take a fun ride with our smarts in
between the two points and end it with fun, prizes, and more at
the top of the Peterson Museum.
This is the one event you don't want to miss. More and
exciting details to follow. One thing for sure, this will be
the SoCal event of the year. Mark your calendars now as this
will be one event you won't want to miss.
*Time TBD
For more information and to RSVP please visit the SoCal Smarties Meetup Page so we will know how many plan on attending. Hope to see everyone there!
There has been some BIG changes to the March 21st event. If you were first planning to attend the joint Smart Madness and BH smart event we wanted to let you know that many things have changed.
We, Smart Madness have decided to bow out of the event due to a number of changes that took place and the change of focus of this event from being a fun, free event to one that has commercial interests (outlined on the SoCal Meetup.com message board).
In place of this event we have decided to host our own, commercial free event. Here is the direct link:
Breakfast
Poker Run
BBQ
Live Jazz Band
Car Show
Raffle with over $1,000 in prizes
and much more all done in a relaxed, fun setting.
You may have seen a link on this website for the Beverly Hills Birthday Rally Event and a request to RSVP.
Please note!
This was the original event that we were sponsoring and helped organize. At this time we have chosen to no longer associate ourselves and our company with this event and the new sponsor 4smartcar.com.
We apologize for any confusion and look forward to hosting our new event that promises to be a lot of fun!
Thank you for your support!
We wanted to make sure we clarify this so there is no confusion in the community.
Boris, sorry to hear what happened so close to the event. Didn't understand the email confirming my RSVP until I got the email from Laura. We'll be at your event for sure. See you then!
Not knowing all the details BUT, knowing Vinnie, I have to come down to supporting the BH event. He is one of, if not the most, stand-up, straight shooting guys (particularly among car salesmen)with no personal interest other than to say, "Thank you" for a great year and share a great day together including a free special visit to the Peterson museum and several other pleasant surprises.
It is with deep regret that we notify you with the following: some time ago the General Manager of Beverly Hills smart contacted us and asked us to plan an event for local smart car owners. He stated that he liked what he seen us put together in the past and would like put something together with our 2 companies involved for the 1 year anniversary.
We informed him that if we were to do this we wanted to make sure the event was going to be a fun, friendly event and not one would focus on trying to sell new cars or the services of a dealership. We even insisted that the event would not start or end at our location- the Smart Madness shop.
This was to be a fun event with breakfast, socializing, a fun run/drive and one that would possibly end with lunch at the Peterson museum. In addition, we requested that if we were to help promote and organize, this we would be given the opportunity to put together a smart car show with raffles and trophies, pretty much fun for all. They agreed!
Over the last 30 days we have put all the plans in place, obtained prizes from our fellow vendors, set up (tourny)classes for the car show, planned the raffle, etc. As the time for the event started to get closer we attempted to contact BH smart to finalize the details, as we were your voice, we needed to get concerns answered and ad-dressed. Each time, our requests seemed to have fallen on deaf ears.
Several days ago we were finally informed that the focus of the event has been changed. The dealership was under pressure to sell cars and services and all the sudden they seemed more interested in promoting the 2009 models and the service department than they were to work with us in putting together the fun event we had planned. We informed the dealership that we have had about 100 smart car owners and confirmed their attendance to this event by Meet Up, SCOA, in person at our shop and on the phone with customers, and we did not feel right simply simply taking people to a dealership for a demo and a new car clinic with the event being an afterthought. The response to us was "just bring your peeps and we will take care of the rest".
After another insisted attempt to address details and concerns, we later accidentally received an Evite that had 4smartcar.com as the new sponsor in place of us, there's was no mention of us anywhere. A couple of minutes later an email came to us from BH stating that this Evite should not have gone out to us. They wanted to talk to us first. About an hour later a website came up along with an ad on SCOA with the same info. What does this all mean? Well, we loathe to say it buy we feel that we were unfortunately used to do the outreach to the community (we posted on every forum, reached to the SCOA groups in No and far as San Diego, talked about the event to every local customer who walked in and who called on the phone) by Beverly Hills smart and the new sponsor- who wasn't us.
It seems they had us do all the work for them and then simply dismissed us once they had all the owners RSVP's and names. The GM of BH called us yesterday when we informed him that if this does not get fixed we will simply hold our own event. One that is guaranteed to be fun and free. Once he heard that he asked us to wait and "let's have a conference call and fix this". We agreed and set up at time of 1 PM today. Well, now we find out that while we were waiting for that call the owner of 4smartcar.com has been privately emailing everyone from this board trying to get them confirmed for the event since there may be a very good chance that we would bow out and do our own.
We are sorry for the long explanation, but we felt is was time you knew the truth about the business practices of some companies. With that, we simply cannot associate ourselves with these type of individuals regardless of how much financial gain or loss there is for us. We are now bowing out of what was to be a joint Beverly Hills smart and Smart Madness event, and would like to announce a new event that we will personally hold on the same day.
We ask you, our fellow smart car owner for your support and truly hope you come out and help us make lemonade out of lemons and at the same time show folks that this type of behavior is not something that is right. We will have the shop open, but won't be behind the registers. Remember our goal when originally hosting this was that it had to be for you the driver, no financial gain from either parties.
Please join us for: Smart Madness 1st Breakfast/ Poker Run (this is a fun drive)/ Car Show/ Tropy Tourny/ BBQ The event will take place on March 21st at 8:30AM

We are more excited than ever, because it is about the community, the spirit and the zest for life that all of us have that coincidently comes out when we are with our smarts .
Regretfully but now with full excitement of doing what we originally envisioned
