One of the Bay Area's oldest 4th of July parades is held every year in Danville, CA.
Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley
As the pictures show in the above link, it's a mixture of community activities from bands to cheerleaders, from churches to cars, from veteran to 4H, from Little League to politicians and just about everything else. Small town Americana pageantry at it's best.
I thought it would be neat to have our SmartCars in the parade!
I just got off the phone with the parade organizer. He's a Prius owner, knows about the SmartCar, and was very enthusiastic that it would fit in and go over well. I should note, this is a CHARITY event and there is a minor entry fee.
As there is a new dealership opening in Walnut Creek, (15 miles up the road) we can approach Stead Motors to be a corporate sponsor.
So what says the Northern Cal group? How many are interested, and if there is enough interest, who will join me as a volunteer organizer? I'm open to suggestions.

Full disclosure: I'm a 1433, haven't configured, and may not have a SmartCar by July 4th '09. But I'll still cheer you on from the curbside if I don't have my car yet!
