Hey everyone,

Here are the details on the drive after the meet and greet at Crissy Fields. We did a dry run of the route today and took a few point-n-shoot pics, don't worry, it won't take nearly as long as what googlemaps says!

http://tinyurl.com/2vgmz6

I wanted to create a little roadtrip that'll hopefully show you a greener side of SF, we'll be stopping halfway at Land's end for a quick group photo. Our end destination will be by the Windmill in G.G. Park, adjacent to the Beach Chalet if you want to grab lunch, we should arrive there around 11:30ish.

I'll be bringing some donuts for the meet & greet so bring your coffee! Just in case you want to grab something before then, there's a Starbucks up the way at the LDAC public park. While you're there you can say hi to the Yoda statue.

p.s. Don't forget to bring Motorola Talkabouts (or equivalent) if you have 'em!

and for yucks a few fun pics from today

Wow - that was an eye opener.

Here's a quick recap for those that couldn't make it: My wife and I went in not really knowing what to expect, never having met any Smart owners before, but this was all a bit odd. We were one of the lucky ones to get away when the cops showed up. I don't know what those are people were thinking doing donuts in the Marina and then racing away. Crazy.

We always figured the people buying Smarts were a bit different than the average teenage street racer crowd - but we were obviously wrong. I certainly didn't expect to see half the cars outfitted with nitrous kits and crazy thumping stereos. Who knew you could fit 12s in a Smart? The guy that showed up with the full hydraulics driving along on three wheels was pretty over the top too. It was wild watching him hit the switches and make the car dance. I wanted to ask him what was involved in doing the conversion (not that I would ever do it myself, but just out of curiosity) but the scowl that he gave me as I approached and the facial tatoos gave me the creeps (sorry, whoever you are).

Then the bikini show with the girls in lucite heels? What was that about?

When we finally did leave, it was like looking back on a war zone. TV crews, smoke pouring out of the parking lot, and a helicopter circling over head...

SmartAzz,
Nice job putting together the meet today. Nice to meet some of the people that have taken delivery and see their 'smarties.'

Looking forward to the next one - HOPE to have my car by then!

Wow, what a day! I want to thank everyone that showed up today, it was a fantastic turnout (17 , more then I ever could have imagined!) and I sincerely enjoyed meeting all of the current and future Smart owners (and speaking of future owners I think we all sold a bunch today just by being there and talking to people; we even found a lady sitting in our car feeling it out ). It really was a fun diverse group and I feel lucky to have met you all and appreciate the time you took out of your day, and the huge effort it must have been for some who travelled all sorts of distances to be there.

I hope you each enjoyed the meet and had fun on the drive, even if you ended up on a separate path then the front group for awhile (oops!) Seeing the conga line of Smarts, bobbing along like colorful scrubbing bubbles, was unforgettable, hearing people's surprised comments and seeing all of the smiles at the vision was icing on the cake.

In recognition of the fun I dub this event Smartch Madness tm

Next year we'll see how many more Smarts we can gather up at Crissy Field for Smartch Madness 09! We'll make a real thing of it

Cheers all, again it was a real pleasure meeting you. We'll post our pics soon, please add any you have too I'd love to see them
