Hey folks, almost time for yet another First Sunday Drive!
And this time we going to... (drum roll..) Carmel!
[copied with permission]
Hello Sunday Drivers!
We have quite a treat in store for the first Sunday in February - driving the full length of the Carmel Valley! We'll start in Carmel and end in San Juan Bautista - a longer drive than usual but there are easy opportunities to cut the drive shorter if you need to get home.
Those of you who are members of the San Francisco Bay Area section of the Mercedes-Benz Club are aware that the day prior, Saturday the 31st, the club is holding a great event in Monterey. Members that have already returned their reservations will be enjoying a great 'behind the scenes' tour of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, a private guided historical walk, and cocktails and dinner at the wonderful Monterey Yacht Club. If you haven't already made your reservation I think you may be out of luck for the sold out tour, but there might still be a possibility to join us for dinner. If your not a Mercedes Club member - this is a great example of the type of events the club plans and enjoys so why not join today and have even more opportunities to interact with many of the great people and cars you see on our drives!? If you have any questions about joining the Saturday events please e-mail Eva Gordon at
eva@well.com .
In Carmel we will be meeting at the Crossroads Shopping Center at the intersection of Rio Road and Highway 1. As this is a long drive you might want to plan on packing a lunch to enjoy on the deck at the Hahn Estate Winery. There is a Safeway with a deli located at the start location and we'll make a stop in Carmel Valley Village where you can get a sandwich made at the Carmel Valley Grocery Company.
Be sure to arrive at our start location with plenty of time to get whatever you need to buy (lunch, snacks, coffee, gas) and still be with our group by 9:45 so we can be on the road by 10. Of course, if you come at 9:00 you'll probably find some other drivers to socialize with!
Directions to the meeting location and instructions for the drive are available from the SOCSF.COM website, as a PDF file.. But I'll post it here as well
See you in Monterey and, as always, drive safe!
Robert
PS: Mark your calendars now for our drive on June 7 - a great North Bay drive that will end at a beautiful private estate where MBCA members are invited to enjoy the club's Member Appreciation Party - a casual afternoon luncheon and pool party! Yep - another great reason to join the club! Watch the newsletter for more information.
