Yikes! It's that time again, time for the First Sunday Drive!

We had a great drive last month - 48 cars winding through some great backroads in the Santa Cruz Mountains from Los Gatos to Menlo Park. We ended the drive at Tesla Motors and were treated to a very comprehensive tour of the Tesla Roadster as well as the service and final production facilities. Although the Tesla S sedan had been loaded on a plane for the Frankfurt Auto Show only days before there was plenty of other interesting stuff to see - and we have been promised an invitation to return when the Tesla S is "in the house."
(wonder if they will show us anything with the electric smart? hmm!)
The October First Sunday Drive promises to be very interesting and a total departure from our usual jaunts along the open winding backroads in the Bay Area countryside. On Sunday, October 4, our group will embark on an "Urban Drive" through San Francisco. Richard and Laura have put together a very interesting route through some great parts of the city that you probably haven't been to or through in quite some time - so come and join the fun!
Sunday, October 4, is also the day that the San Francisco Bay Area Section of MBCA is celebrating Oktoberfest in San Francisco and the First Sunday Drive is planned to end at the secure parking area arranged for attendees of the event - just in time for a frosty cold beer and the start of the festivities!
So if you're planning to attend the Oktoberfest event make a day of it with a nice drive in the morning! Reservations are closed for the MBCA Oktoberfest event but there are plenty of other options for lunch at the end of the drive.
As always - the drive starts at 10AM and our group usually starts to congregate about an hour in advance for socializing and checking out the cars. Drivers meeting ~9:50. Look for the blue and white balloons to find the sign-in sheet.
Please do Google a route to the starting location for this one, it may be a bit tricky for those unfamiliar with the area..
We will meet at “Lands End” in San Francisco. “Lands End” is at the end of El Camino Del Mar (just above the cliff of the old Sutro Baths), and there’s a very large parking lot. There are toilet facilities nearby. Look for the blue and white balloons. We’ll provide coffee (since there isn’t a coffee house nearby).

Note this is *NOT* the San Francisco Sunrise Tour that we did with the Mini & 350Z club in the past, it's a completely different route! woot!
