I saw that yesterday (I was browsing for a cabrio, thinking of upgrading if I can get a deal). I seem to remember they wanted some crazy amount for that.

Is this correct?

"like all of the other Roadsters here, it is not legal for use on American roads and highways. It is meant for off road (track) use or as a display vehicle only. It is sold with a legal Bill of Sale, no title available."

For some reason, I was under the impression that the cars were grey market registered just like the 450's that were imported here in the US.

I couldn't say how the 450's were registered but i'd still like to have a roadster some day. I guess they have trouble selling a ' display car' for their 35K asking price. I wonder what the reserve is set at.

Getting a car grey-marketed is pricey. What a lot of people do now is import the car for "exhibition" - you're limited how many miles you can drive it, but you don't have to mod it. Supposedly Bill Gates, Ralph Lauren, and Jerry Seinfeld spearheaded the bill for this so they could drive their Porsche 959s legally without modding them.

LOL, there was also a 959 on sale back a while. It went for about 300k, and it was having the bill of sale with it for the US...

Nope. Some roadsters in the USA are fully license-able for US roads. Certain modifications are applied to hem to allow use nationwide. It probably also uses a kit car registration.

That or it was imported and sold by a soldier from overseas or by other means.
