The Roadster is almost perfect on paper, ownership on the other hand is far from that.

Modified your thought a little; true for most cars.

IN fact if you follow many of the Brit and German forums the roadster is a real pain to feed and care for... most notably it is a leaky monster and not well suited to rainy weather

I can think of several kit cars that have more power, better handling and more well behaved electronics... hummm where is that "23 "T" bucket brochure?

But most cars aren't designed to have their main electrical unit positioned direcly below a possible leak point.

Understand; just like the early C5 Vette was designed with the battery tray above one of the car's main control computers. Many toasted computers due to leaking batteries before that was sorted.

The roadster is the most fabulous smart car ever made. Sure there are lots of problems with but this is what it make the roadster so different.
It's true you don't have too much space to carry your luggage and there are many leaks when the rain come. So what ?
It is so alive. For the price of a basic commuter you can have a perfect enjoyement car. OK some time i wish to have a little bit more space for big object and i pray every day to make the barrel price fall but a simple thing make me forget all of this. Just turn the key, let the engine being warm and have a ride.

The Top Gear test with the MINI Cooper S was certainly an eye opener; I had no idea the roadster was that much fun to drive. Yes, not a perfect car but then what is? Doubt we'll ever see them built again - smart seems intent on the fortwo and getting their revenue into the black. Can't blame them for that.

Furthermore, the roadster was built in a different plant (Holland?). Smartville is solely for the fortwo.

No only the 4/4 was built in holland. The roadster was built in smartville by a "special team" who was only working on it.

We still have the hope for the Smart roadster episode 2 the revenge of the road.
Why not with the 1.5l turbo 177cv 4/4 brabus turbo engine?

For the moment the fact that there is no new roadster make the old having a strong price on the used market.
