If you study these two links:

Development of MMC MITSUBISHI "i" Powertrain (pdf-file)

and

Development of MMC MITSUBISHI "i" Body (pdf-file)

you will find amazingly parallels (plastic panels, IL3-1.0-powertrain, start-stopp-system). Of course, the new 44 will NOT have an aluminium-spaceframe, because it will be a little bigger and will use the Tridion-technique, but the former cooperation between MMC and DC (now DAG) was not for nothing. The "i" is very successfully, so DAG has to act now.

By the way, do you know this little Mitsubishi-secret?

Hope it gets to production.

Looks a lot better that the first one that was out on the market in Europe and then got canceled. That one looked like something that someone had put together in their own garage with a bottle of super glue! Nothing flowed in the body lines.

This would be sweet. I think another 4-6 inches in the back to accomodate more luggage (and a V-6 for the additional weight) and I'd definitely get one. It would keep my 4YO twins from arguing who gets to ride in the smart.

A V-6??
A four cylinder turbo would be all it would need (and all it could fit!)

I read a road test in Top Gear magazine about the i. It basically as the same drivetrain as the smart. Cool car. Has anyone hear the rumor, that smart is going to bring back the roadster and put the MG badge on it?

The last rumour i heard about the Ex smart roadster was the kimber project.
The Project Kimber group wished to remake the smart roadster with a bigger engine and a manual gearbox under the brand name AC (like the AC ace that serve to become the shelby cobra)
But they failed to find the money to buy the intelectual property and the making chain so the project can be declare dead for what we know about it today.

Are you sure it was MG? MG is now chinese.

About the 4/4˛ this could be the quickest "revival car" to be planned. Only few years after the decision to stop the making of the only 4 seater in the smart range will they try to make it again?

On the french forums we were wondering what the smart design team could prepare now. This could be the calm before the storm.

We hope to have a good surprise at the Mondial de l'automobile de Paris (Paris auto show)this autumn.
Wait and see
