15 x 195 Fronts and 15 x 225 Rears?

Hi everyone,

Forum newbie here, recently decided to get a smart ad have been reading the tire and wheel posts with interest.

I see many are running 15 x 175 Fronts and 15 x 195 Rears but has anyone gone with wider rubber in a 15" staggered setup, say 15 x 195 Fronts and 15 x 225 Rears or similar?

TIA.

More info needed. What aspect ratio? 50, 55 or 60? I'm running 175/55R15's all the way around on OEM Passion 15x5.5 alloys.

Also, are you planning on running OE wheels or aftermarket? If aftermarket, then what size?

Personally, I would like to run 195/55R15's all the way around 'if' I knew for sure they would clear with no rubbing.

Check the tech. specks from the tire manufacturer or from the Tirerack website to make sure the diameter or circumference of the front and rear is close enough to prevent the stability control problems. I would just get the 15x6.5 Genius wheels all around with 195-50-15 Bridgestone RE-11. They should barely fit on 6.5 wheels, they are really the widest 195 tires I have ever seen and have monster grip.

Why do that when you can put 195/50-15's all around with no problems? They're also virtually identical in rolling diameter to the originals so speedo and odometer are not affected.

thanks, those do look like awesome tires. according to the specs posted by tirerack they should fit on the 6" rials as well.

is is just the diameter or circumference that can present stability control issues? tirerack shows the RE-11s are almost identical in size to the stock rears.

has anyone tried turning off stability control by pulling a fuse (assuming there is one)?

fortow and I are running identical setups (unless he changed recently): 15x6 Rial wheels and Yokohama AVID T4 all-season tires in 195/50 all the way around. I've been running this setup since last January for almost 20,000 miles. The car has not been lowered and is stock in all other aspects.

No rubbing and no oversteer issues that I've been able to detect even in 'sporty' driving that has activated the ESP a couple times. I had it on the Dragon run recently and even pushing it in the wet, there were no issues. IMHO, it handles better, rides better, looks better, and you can rotate. I've rotated this setup three times now. YMMV, but I can recommend this configuration without hesitation based on my driving.
