18" rims possible?

I have 17's on the back of my Brabus, and there is still a huge fender gap, which makes me wonder if 18's will fit both front and rear on a lowered Smart.

Has anyone done this or have knowledge if this can be done?

This thread is not meant to start a discussion as to whether you, philosophically, think it should be done or not (weight issues, speedo issues, etc). Rather, would just like to know if 18's can fit on a lowered Smart w/o any required fender work.

You could. But the front wouldn't fit very well if you decide to lower it.

YES it is possible to fit 18's on the front and rear at stock height. However I dont recommend it for it does not look right on the smart because the diameter of the car and its short wheel base. It looks like over kill if you know what I mean.
My suggestion from someone who loves plus size wheels on a car is to get the nicest and 17's and one with a lip. Then get H&R or Eibach lowering springs.
The smart with 17's lowered front and in rear with a staggerd fitment looks just right for the smart and will give you greater handling abilities than with 18's.
Keep note with 18's and hard cornering your tires may rub the inner fender wells or even against your body panels. Unlike tradition cars that have steel or metal wheel wheels and qtr panels you can not roll the fenders on the smart so if you like to drive aggressive the biggest you will want to go is 17's unless you widebody the smart.

I saw the yellow Smart with 18's. I think they look too big on the car. The fact that the wheel design had a full-face makes the rim look bigger.

I will stick with 17's, as I plan on lowering the car aggressively.

hey Tbone, I personally was going rim searching and I know this doesn't answer your question but with a full face rim I think 16 front and 17 rear looks nice and without a full face, 17 front and 18 rear since.. just like you noticed, a full face rim basically makes it look an inch larger then those that are not full face and has a lip.

Larry, I gave up on the 18's a while back. My 17's are on order...we're hoping 3 week turnaround.

I'm with Sun. I like the lips. As it turns out, the Smart can fit a 2.5" rear lip, but the company that HRE buys their barrels from doesn't sell one in a 17" variety to allow for that, so I'm stuck now with a 2" rear lip.
