Anyone try 185/55's on rear

The stock tire is still only available from Tire Rack but I did notice a lot more Brands of tire if you move to a 185/55 R15. Has anyone tried this? I believe this means the tire is a bit taller. The good thing is if you need a tire quickly most of the larger tire stores carry this size.

Also any idea what the torque should be on the lugs?

Thanks

Not that I am aware of but DavidV is running 195/50/15's all around, just do a search on DavidV and you will find the thread.

Thanks!!

Just last weekend I put four Michelin 185/60 - 15's on and only have about 100 miles on them. Nothing hits if that is your question. Measuring the circumference shows that these are 4% larger around so I need to take calculated mpg and multiply by 1.04 to get actual milage. Any other questions? Plan to post photos when I get back home this weekend.

Check this post on Modifications Interior and Exterior and you can see what 185/60's look like: Four 185/60-15 Michelins, powder painted rims, Doug Thorley Exhaust with body paint Sorry not sure how to direct link.

According to my scangauge and gps my speedo is running 4% faster than the car is actually going with the standard rear tires. (50 on speedo, 48 scangauge and gps). If it is the case I'm losing 4% of my warranty.

Mine was off too, but remember that these speedometers are calibrated by a theoritical tire diameter and I found that these Conti's don't measure up to what the theoritical spec sheet says. Mine were 71.125" circumfrence and that is 22.63" tall, fronts are actually taller and that is totally against tire spec sheets.

Go to an interstate, run for 10 miles at 60 (not on a busy day) and see if it takes you 10 minutes. It's hard to hold a steady 60, but if you do you can see how far the speedo is off and then adjust Scan Gauge to match true speed.

And in the fine print, I'm sure they can wiggle out of the warranty...lol
