What do you think?
That is a disk, as it appears to be. If it is sandwiched between the drum and wheel, the point contact of the wheel mounting (not a flat surface mount**-the wheels have discrete contact points that rest against the drum/rotor to control wheel runout) may, over time, wear thru and the wheel could loosen as the contact points press into the carbon fibre. Not sure how you mounted them, though. Just a thought and maybe even an errant one.....;)

Where are you getting the carbon fibre? And do they carry the offweave colors? I have laid a lot of fiberglass for one off projects and would like to try my hand at some of the simple things like you just did...

jonnysan,
after being bagged and burnt, it's tougher than the aluminum but I'm checking torque every so often just to see.
Fred,
They have different weave patterns but all graphite is black.
Its not fiberglass and while similar in some ways, its handled and processed very differently.

Who is your supplier? (yes I know how to google) just curious where you prefer to get the material and if they handle small sizes... a few years back the few mail order folks wanted a small fortune but mostly because several yards was min order

I have seen (with own eyes) Black CF weave with every other row in blue, red, or yellow... and the effect is very good looking on sport bike external bits like fenders and fairings...

I actually get it from a guy who makes drag car bodies and buys in bulk.
I never asked him where he got his, I'm happy to get what I need and look around at the projects.
There is a kevlar/carbon weave that's colored but that's different too.
In a deal that's getting squished and needs to be hard, I'd rather have 100%.

I'm only 32 but I have been like this for years. I never saw the point in putting a shine on answers or packing an answer out. People don't have the patience to read what you write, they don't even have the patience to read something they are interested in (as seen earlier). It is a common trait on the internet. So no point in wasting time writing something that no one will read.
