I understand... guess what I was trying to say is that "SB20032" is not a part number for anything from Mopar. It may be a manufacturers number, but not a "Mopar" part. I'll check out the 56029400AC sensor and see if there is a kit available and if so, how much. If I can remember ( I'm old and suffer from CRS), I'll post it tomorrow (Thursday) with a "Mopar" part number and price.

What I was hoping to get was the smart part number (MB part, more than likely) and I may be able to change that over to a Mopar part, if there is happens to be a similar part that was provided by Daimler.

OK......here's what I have so far:

Mopar PN 56029400AC is a TMPS 'only' (Qty 1). It's made by Schrader and shows a spec of "433.92mhz". Mopar List Price is $41.55ea.

Mopar PN 56053037AB is a Retainer Nut 'only' (Qty 1). Mopar List Price is $1.90ea.

But again, I would like to verify with another source that these will work before either I buy some or sell some to another smart owner.

Anyone have the 'mhz' specs on an OEM smart TPMS?

I haven't installed my four Mopar PN 56029400AC. I took my Brabus wheels down to my local shop which wanted $75 to install the stems. I think I can put them on myself for free. tbone28 sold me his Brabus wheels and he took his sensors off but simply broke the tire seal just enough to get the sensor out. The rest of the tire is still in the same exact sealed position as when it was originally mounted and balanced, so I suspect I could get the stem of the sensors into the hole using a string, then air them up with some Nitrogen. The tire shop claims they'd have to completely take off the tires, and that the sensors have to be positioned just so (which seems weird, they looks like they just screw on, no?) then remount and balance the 15"/17" wheels. Why is it that most tire shops have attitude problems?

As for your nut only. The problem is you'll also need the rubber and metal washer as you see in this picture.

Schrader TPMS Service Kit (SB-20032): All Tire Supply Company

Obviously you don't need the rest of the parts, but the nut alone probably isn't enough unless your tire shop has these washers in stock. I know my tire shop doesn't have the nuts. For another $5 for the set, you'll have the complete service kit.

Hmmm, maybe you are right. I went to order that SB-20032 part but they have a $25 minimum order then I went to look elsewhere for it and I can't seem to find anybody else to sell the SB-20032. Apparently they give free shipping so that's the reason for the minimum.

So now I'm wondering if all I need is the nut. 56053037AB I went to the local Chrysler dealer which didn't have the nuts and he said only one other dealer in the area had them and they only had three. lol

Maybe I'll go down there and pick up the three they have to see if they do the trick. I noticed Tire Rack has a tire pressure sensor activator for $105. I wonder if I've gotten in over my head. ha, didn't know some sensors needed to be activated.

Okay, I went down to Greenwich Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler to get the nuts for these Mopar sensors for a total of $9.76 out the door ($2.30 each plus tax...Greenwich dealers always charge 20% over MSRP for parts, I think it's a town law). They confirmed that the service kit that I was looking at (SB-20032) isn't what you need, but all you need is the nut.

I've been to several tire places. Midas didn't want to do the job at all, because they feared breaking the wheel and sensors. Which gave me a good hard laugh, if they can't put in a sensor then they have major issues. There are far more difficult things in the auto industry.

The other tire places explained how they'd need to take the tires that are on the wheel completely off in order to avoid breaking the sensor, which I can understand that (Town Fair wanted $73 to put 4 sensors and a local gas station wanted $48). If that's the case then I'm going to buy 17" run-flat tires like I originally wanted on this car and sell my Hankook tires. I think I'm going to get 205s/45/17 run-flat on the front now that I think of it.

Just for the info. Here are the tire choices for that size in all season & snows at tire rack. I have the Goodyear Eagle RS-A EMTs on my VW. They're expensive because they are made in Germany (the non EMTs aren't made in Germany), but you can get them elsewhere for a lot less than what TireRack sells them for. I like how the Continental has a 400 tread rating though the Pirelli V rated performance snow is appealing. Believe it or not, the wear would be about the same as what's currently on the car but the corner grip performance would be a bit less on dry pavement, but I'm okay with that. Depends on how loud they are is really the only factor that would deter me from just sticking with performance snows. Besides there's no such thing as all season (that's a joke, three season maybe) and I don't like summer tires especially for a 70HP Smart car. hmmmm

Continental ContiProContact SSR
(Grand Touring All-Season)
$204/ea (free tomtom)
400AA-A

Goodyear Eagle RS-A EMT
(High Performance All-Season)
$297/ea
260AA-A

Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 RFT
(Performance Snow)
$159/ea 84H
$173/ea 84V

Pirelli Winter 240 SnowSport RFT
(Performance Snow)
$187/ea 84V

I'm sure there are a bunch of other snow tires out there since this is the beginning of Summer. I know, I know. lol

I can CONFIRM they work.

They're installed and driving about.

The Mopar sensors are called Scheif...Spelling? They require 35 pounds of torque to tighten them. There are another kind of sensor by Siemen which requires 54 pounds of torque. The guy at Costco had a chart for the Smart sensors. He tried to put the sensors on the tire but then was concerned he's damage the tires, so I took the two 15s to the place that originally quoted me $75 to put the sensors in all four tires. They actually didn't charge me anything, I guess I've done enough business with them that they decided to say no charge. Which is good because it was getting to the point that people were making it seem like the Brabus wheels were problematic to take off without fear of damaging the wheel.

So all you need is that Mopar sensor and the nut. I paid $24.50 for each sensor and $2.44 for each nut, so for $108 total for all four wheels. No bad. I think Smart wants close to that just for one sensor.

Has anyone tried Nokian tires? I have, on my old car, a Focus ZX3. They are a bit pricey, just under Michelins, but boy do they go in the snow and ice. My daughter drove the Focus two winters ago when her new Mazda wouldn't go. Needless to say she has them on her car now. My smart plan is for same size rims, 15x6 with 195/50 R15 Nokian WRG2 tires. They are only available thru small shops, mention tirerack, they will bargain. check Nokian's web site.

Info: I just got a set from www.tirerack.com Item mbgen3 so32 schrdr 433 mhz sensor 4nm 38.00ea. or 152.00 set of 4 mine came with mounting nuts. I also ordered kit20013-replacement tpms hardware kit 4 ea.@3.00 per kit total 12.00. They were installed in my new Genius Darwin wheels and mounted on my Smart. The sensors were initialized by the tire shop and required using the tpms reset instructions twice before the car "recognized" them. They work great now. Hope this helps. Cheerz, SmartChip

Belle Tire installed my sensors for 7 bucks a wheel. My 2 cents.

Just so you know, TireRack is closing out the Orange lineup. I ordered the version before the Orange came out which they closed that lineup 2-3 years ago. Now they are going with the Hella lineup. This is the most annoying structure. They can't seem to keep a lineup of tire pressure monitoring systems for longer than 18 months, which to me is a reason I avoided getting this for my Smart.
