the mercedes jack that i have is extremly flat when closed, its all aluminum and looks something like 1/2 of the standard scissor jack. ill try to get a pic tomorrow.

Use to drive a rural mailroute on gravel roads and the first thing you learn real quick is how to fix a flat tire. I would always carry an extra rim with tire but also carried tire plugs. Most flats are from nails and most of the time all I had to do was to pull the nail and put the plug in and pumped the tire up using a small compressor that ran off the car battery. The plug kit(which comes with 5 extra plugs) can be bought anywhere for less that $10. Never in 28 years had one plug ever fail.
